“Secret Invasion,” a new crossover event series based on the comic book series of the same name, will be the next Marvel Studios series to debut on Disney+ later this year. It features a group of shape-shifting Skrulls that have been invading Earth for generations.
The cast includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Emilia Clarke, and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos—characters who first met in “Captain Marvel.”
The Disney+ series will directly lead into Marvel’s upcoming Armor Wars film, according to Don Cheadle, who will play an important role in the studio’s upcoming Secret Invasion series.
Secret Invasion Kicks Off What Happens in Armor Wars
Cheadle responded when asked about the MCU’s rapid expansion since the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, he said “It’s bananas! And it’s very expansive. And obviously now that everyone can show up in everybody else’s story… I mean, I’m in ‘Secret Invasion’. So I’m in Sam’s show. There’s a part of that, that kicks off what happens in Armor Wars.”
“So yeah, it can go on and on and on… hopefully it doesn’t get spread too thin. And there’s still some quality control and not just trying to expand for expansion’s sake. But there’s a clear idea about the storytelling and what you’re trying to accomplish with every iteration.”
The actor hinted at what fans might anticipate from War Machine in relation to Armor Wars, saying “I don’t think we’ve ever really dug into him, and now it’s an opportunity to really explore his emotional life, his interior life, his relationships, his trajectory, where he wants to go, what his challenges are. Obviously, you have to pay off the Marvel stuff. And be in the lore of the mythology of the character and the MCU in general. But trying to really build out this character and make him a three-dimensional dude… is what the goal is. So I’m excited about that.”
Emilia Clarke who’ll play Abigail Brand, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle, Christopher McDonald, Killian Scott, and Martin Freeman are also part of the cast. In the upcoming series, Cobie Smulders will also make a comeback as former SHIELD agent Maria Hill.

The movie’s star, Don Cheadle, will return as Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, also known as War Machine.
Yassir Lester (Black Monday), who was earlier chosen as the series’ lead writer, is still involved in the endeavor. The director has not yet been announced.
Although a premiere date has not yet been set, “Armor Wars” will open in theatres.
