Warner Bros. unveiled the first trailer for Dune: Part Two at CinemaCon 2023, providing viewers with a sneak peek at the highly anticipated sequel to 2021’s Dune. The film, directed by Denis Villeneuve, promises to expand upon the epic story established in the first installment.
New Locations And Characters
With filming wrapped up before the end of 2022, Dune 2 introduces several new locations and characters, including Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan, Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, and Javier Bardem’s Stilgar.
Trailer Details
The trailer starts with Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) riding a giant sandworm in the Arrakis desert. Later, Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulan discusses the secrets hidden within Arrakis, while Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen appears “completely bald and pale” and “extremely menacing and almost monstrous.”
The trailer also features Zendaya‘s Chani sharing a kiss with Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, followed by a battle between Chalamet and Butler’s characters. Dune 2 picks up right where the first film left off, according to reports from the presentation.
Public Release
Dune 2 is one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2023, and many are expecting it to perform well at the box office, especially given the impressive cast of A-listers from other franchises. However, fans may have to wait a while longer for the trailer’s public release, with the film still more than half a year away from release. It is possible that the trailer could be tied to the release of another Warner Bros. movie, like The Flash or Barbie.
