Blade’s hype train has hit a bit of a bump after being one of the most eagerly anticipated Marvel Studios productions in a while. The adaptation of Marvel’s well-known vampire slayer for the MCU ended up losing its director, which resulted in a delay as Marvel Studios tried to restructure the production.

Due to production problems and the need to find a new director, Blade’s release date has been postponed from November 2023 to September 2024.

There hasn’t been any discussion of the vacant director’s seat since Bassam Tariq quit the movie. Fans believed Michael Giacchino would be a fantastic choice after his success with Marvel Studios’ Werewolf By Night, but the composer-turned-director claimed he would not like to go that route.

New Blade Director

Elegance Bratton may have been chosen as Blade’s new director, according to a number of sources.

According to the sources, this might indicate that an announcement confirming the information is soon to come or it could simply indicate that Bratton is one of a few filmmakers on a shortlist, but that the director is currently involved in discussions for Blade in some capacity.

For a job like this, Bratton might be the ideal choice. Mahershala Ali, the star of Blade, is said to have been “extremely upset” with the MCU movie’s direction, thus a new director like Bratton would be helpful in this situation.

Fans must currently wait, as Blade is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 6, 2024.

By debuting in theatres a few months after Thunderbolts and a few months before the eagerly awaited Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Blade’s new release date places it in the midst of several high-profile Marvel movies.
