WandaVision was Marvel Studios’ big comeback project after an 18-month pandemic-induced delay. However, there were no guarantees that the series would be a hit, which made its star, Elizabeth Olsen, worry about its success.

In an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Elizabeth Olsen revealed that she and her co-star, Paul Bettany, were concerned that WandaVision might flop. Despite loving their work on the series, they were afraid that it might potentially ruin their careers when it debuted.

WandaVision proved to be a hit and even led to Marvel Studios’ biggest critical wins to date as the show was rewarded with the MCU’s first Emmy awards.

Olsen admitted that even though the show broke form in an interesting way, it wasn’t a sure thing. She likened the series to “the forgotten cousin to the Marvel universe” compared to globe-trotting and action-filled efforts in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, the show resonated with audiences, and it became more of a surprise hit than most people expected, including Elizabeth Olsen herself.

Jac Schaeffer, the head writer of WandaVision, also shared her biggest fears in making the show during an interview. She hoped that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would like the final product, and she wanted to make something that she and her team would be proud of.

Even though Elizabeth Olsen had initial worries about WandaVision’s success, the show cemented its place in MCU history as one of Marvel Studios’ biggest wins to date.
