Eternals is speculated to feature several Marvel Cinematic Universe worldbuilding aspects. These include references to the drowning of Atlantis and, of course, the Celestials themselves. According to comic book legends. the Celestials are god-like entities. These are beings that created the X-Gene, which would ultimately give rise to mutants.
And of course, the latest trailer has much more ramifications for the comics than some fans may have realized. Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings, and Eternals will open more opportunities for the MCU director. This has been reassured by the MCU director.
For her part, director Chloé Zhao explained to GamesRadar through Total Picture that “I think we stand alone as a film for sure.” However, its effect on the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe would still be noticed. When it comes to the future of the MCU, Zhao claimed that Eternals “will have a very big effect on the future.” This is what she said;
“But I do think we will have a very big effect on the future of the MCU with what happens in this film. Which, you know, as a fan, is really satisfying for me! I geek out.”
Even Ikaris actor Richard Madden joked that “The Marvel snipers will take me out if I spoke anything” more about what she had in mind.
It’s a no-brainer that there will be countless characters and events that Eternals may set up for future MCU films. This, with the introduction and genesis of the X-gene. This is perhaps the most important one of them. It seems like it may not be explicitly stated in the film. However, explaining how the Celestials used genetic engineering on early-man would be essential.
Atlantis’ sinking may also be referenced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the same time, this is likewise elaborating on ancient Earth history. It is important to note that in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Namor the Submariner will make his live-action debut. Aside from that, Celestials will be the first cosmic entities to be presented in the MCU as a whole. This is in comparison to rather than merely as Easter eggs for fans. In the film, the Celestials have an unearthly presence and influence that is horrifying in scope. Of which, the filmmakers are hoping to depict.
Assuming that Marvel and Disney don’t change plans, every other MCU movie that is set to release in the remainder of 2021 will have a theatrical-only release. In terms of the current release plans for Eternals, Disney and Marvel have yet to make any announcements about any modifications to the present plans. The film will be released exclusively in theaters on November 5.
Variety reports that Disney has less than two weeks to determine what to do with Eternals. Even if it goes against Marvel’s intentions, the studio may delay the premiere or go back to the day-and-date release it granted Black Widow.
