Evangeline Lilly made quite a controversial post at the beginning of 2020, questioning the Coronavirus. She even equated lockdown and quarantine with Marshall Law. After the enormous backlash of comments by fans, she took a step back and apologized. This happened before starting the shooting of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, in which Evangeline has a role.

She was not the only one to get into hot water with the public. Letitia Wright, star of Black Panther, made even more harmful comments regarding the vaccine, putting herself in trouble. Disney calmed the situation a bit by letting the steam cool off. This helped Letitia after she deleted her Twitter account.

Lilly has once again delved into the controversy of the pandemic after two years. In the meantime, there were rumors of Wright actively promoting her anti-vaccine beliefs on the set of Black Panther Forever.

Marvel Star Critiques Mandatory Jabs

Evangeline Lilly photo a few photos of herself on Instagram, In a rally supporting bodily sovereignty’ regarding the vaccine. She attended this rally in DC last weekend.

Lilly’s full comment with the post reads as follows:

“I was in DC this weekend to support bodily sovereignty while Canadian truckers were rallying for their cross-country, peaceful convoy in support of the same thing.

I believe nobody should ever be forced to inject their body with anything, against their will, under threat of:

– violent attack
– arrest or detention without trial
– loss of employment
– homelessness
– starvation
– loss of education
– alienation from loved ones
– ex-communication from society
…under any threat whatsoever.

This is not the way. This is not safe. This is not healthy. This is not love. I understand the world is in fear, but I don’t believe that answering fear with force will fix our problems.

I was pro-choice before COVID and I am still pro-choice today.”

This has divided fans over Lilly’s position regarding vaccination, as it was with Letitia Wright‘s comments about vaccination. Many users on Twitter are condemning Lilly, with @oldsephisgone asking “Would Hope van Dyne ever?” and advocating for people to be vaccinated.

Many joked about this being the second high-profile actress in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to publicly oppose vaccination mandates, such as Jacob Fisher, editor-in-chief o Discussing Film.

Several fans have come out to support Lilly’s stance, with one claiming that Lilly will be “dragged like Letitia Wright“, even if they are “both right about their stance“. However, it is to be understood that such support is rare. The MCU Fans really seem to be very disappointed at this, watching another star getting caught in controversy.

Is Evangeline lily’s Future Threaten By This?

Regardless of whether lily took the jabs, coronavirus vaccination is a sensitive issue. Her Anti-Vax stand may promote people to turn against vaccinations. This can have serious repercussions because covid is affecting the entire society. It’s a matter more related to public safety than choice. When Lilly posted a photo of the rally and a quote like, “All tyranny begins with the desire to coerce others for the greater good”, it was particularly eye-catching, and not in a good way. What makes Lilly risk making such a post now, given the recent controversy involving Letitia Wright‘s anti-vax comments?

With Filming for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania finished, Lily still faces the threat to her roles in the MCU. If Hope van Dyne will not progress past Quantumania, Disney may give Lilly the freedom to take such a position without repercussions.

On July 28, 2023, fans will get an answer about Hope van Dyne‘s future in the MCU when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters.
