Variety reports that Cristin Milioti of How I Met Your Mother fame will star as Sofia Falcone, the daughter of Carmine Falcone (played by John Turturro in The Batman), in the upcoming Penguin HBO Max series.

Colin Farrell, who played Oswald Cobblepot or Penguin, will return to headline his solo series. The actor has even revealed that there won’t be a time jump, and we will drive straight into the action as the show begins just a week after the ending of The Batman. Production on the series hasn’t begun yet, but director Craig Zobel has been roped in to direct one episode for now.

What Role Will Sofia Falcone Play In The Penguin?

In the film, Oswald Cobblepot was Carmine Falcone’s right-hand man. By the end of the movie, we see Falcone get murdered by the Riddler. So Sofia may seek out Edward Nashton aka., the Riddler, to exact revenge on him. But since he’s imprisoned at Arkham so she might need help. And who else to contact than her father’s right-hand man?

Deadline has reported that Sofia Falcone and Cobblepot will battle it out for control over Gotham. Along with this, on the pages of DC comics, Sofia is known as The Hangman, a murderer who targets and kills various officers of the GCPD.

So Sofia Falcone may be the main villain of the show, and if she can lead her father’s men, they can clash with Cobblepot’s Penguin Gang in an all-out fight. It remains to be seen whether Robert Pattinson or Zoe Kravitz will cameo as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle or Catwoman.

We are hoping for a Zoe Kravitz cameo mostly, because the latter’s participation in the show will elevate things. After all, it was revealed in the movie that Selena Kyle is Falcone’s daughter as well, and she could clash with Sofia too. So overall, The Penguin is shaping up as a great series and worthy successor of The Batman. With Gunn and Safran at the helm, DC’s future is looking bright.

The Penguin doesn’t have a release date yet.
