According to recent speculation about Marvel Studios’ Phase 5 filming schedule, Ryan Gosling might soon join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Thunderbolts. Fans are wondering whether he will receive his own shot in the vast Marvel world after working with the Russo brothers on The Gray Man, which also featured MCU legend, Chris Evans.

Gosling has discussed the prospect of joining the Marvel cast, saying that it would be great to have a part in the constantly expanding Multiverse Saga. Daniel Richtman, a well-known insider, revealed on his Patreon account that Marvel Studios is considering Ryan Gosling for a key villain role in the MCU.

Rumor has it that either Ryan Gosling or Alexander Skarsgard has caught Marvel’s eye for the kind of part that male leads between the ages of 30 and 50 are often sought for the character of “a troubled and strong villain,” who is likened to an ‘evil Superman’. The character seems to be the all-powerful Marvel entity Sentry.

Ryan Gosling As Sentry

Should Gosling play Sentry in the MCU, he would be portraying one of the most potent figures in the comics, with links to the Super Soldier Serum. If Ryan Gosling were to play the lead villain in Thunderbolts, this group of former bad guys and anti-heroes would be up against one of the most formidable foes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Taking on a villain of this kind will be an exciting new development for the MCU, considering most of the Thunderbolts have street-level talents outside of big hitters like Ghost. If true, it demonstrates that the Thunderbolts would gather to confront this ‘evil superman’, and not declare war on Wakanda as had been previously speculated.

Production on Thunderbolts is set to begin in the spring, so we shouldn’t have to wait too long until we find out what the real deal is. It should be emphasized that Gosling is open to an MCU project and that he would be a fantastic addition to a film that is attempting to overcome its reputation as a second-rate offering.
