Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is all ready to storm into theaters soon and bring the MCU out of its recent slump. And the main highlight of the movie is undoubtedly Namor. The Talokan leader is described to be many things, but director Ryan Coogler also confirms that the underwater king equals two main Avengers in strength.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Director Says Namor Equals Thor And Hulk
From the trailers and clips released till now, Tenoch Huerta’s Namor comes across as a formidable opponent for Wakanda. We have seen him flying and raining down the ocean on the people Wakanda. He is also strong and can take hits easily. As such, it makes one wonder just how powerful is he? Ryan Coogler has the answer.
As per Marvel.com, the Black Panther 2 director says:
“[There’s] no equal in terms of his capabilities, being able to breathe underwater and breathe at high altitudes and walk around on land. He’s incredibly strong, he’s as strong as Thor, and if he’s around enough water he can be as strong as the Hulk.”
Being as strong as the Asgardian god and the green monster is a title very few MCU heroes can boast of. Even Captain America and Iron Man are no match for them in terms of strength. So it speak volumes of the havoc Namor will rain down to Wakanda.
The Talokan King Is An Altruistic Hero
Ryan Coogler further says:
“He’s not interested in ruing the world for power. He’s not interested in money. He’s interested in protecting his people. And what’s more altruistic than that?…He doesn’t see himself as a villain because in Namor’s eyes what he is doing he’s doing to protect a people who have already made it through a tragic history.”
So Namor will try to keep his people safe from the outside world since colonialism has probably affected his kingdom before. And as per the events of the first Black Panther movie, T’Challa decided to open up the country rather than keep it hidden. So due to such events, Namor will make an interesting foil to the new Black Panther- Shuri.
However, we expect the two kingdoms and the two rulers to reach a peace treaty by the end of the movie. And if Shuri and Namor stay on good terms, then maybe the Talokan King can officially become a part of the Avengers. And maybe then we can see him fighting side-by-side with Thor and Hulk.
But that’s just a pipe dream for now. Check out Black Panther: Wakanda Forever when it releases in theaters on 11 November, 2022.
