Right-wing supporter and ex-Cara Dune actress Gina Carano was recently fired from The Mandalorian for her controversial social media posts. Disney apparently did warn her to check her social media behaviour, but she didn’t heed their warnings or post their apology. So since she was becoming more of a liability with #FireGinaCarano hashtags repeatedly trending on Twitter, the house of mouse decided to fire her.
But her firing just riled up other right-wing supporters who became more passionate than ever before in defending her. They continued their support even on International Women’s Day and posted messages in support of the ex-MMA star on various social media platforms.
One among the hundreds of supportive messages that Carano retweeted caught out attention. One woman posted a pic of her little girls looking up reverently at a cool Cara Dune poster. The caption expressed anger at her firing.
But that wasn’t all. There was another post that had Carano on the sets of The Mandalorian with the caption “Screw Cancel Culture!”
Another one placed a Mother Teresa quote over Gina’s image with the intention of equating the revered Saint with the actress. You can check out more images on her Instagram stories, but then the general tone of these messages have been supportive as usual.
The Star Wars official account posted about Princess Leia, honoring her and Late Carrie Fisher. But Carano’s fans thought that this was the perfect opportunity to flood the comment section and blasted the company for firing her.
Many even commented that Carano deserved the spotlight since she was a strong woman too. However, all these messages comments and posts are very unlikely to make Disney reconsider their decision.
Also, it looks like the actress in question has moved on as well. Gina is currently working with fellow right-wing political supporter Ben Shapiro. Both are slated to make a new film for his own Daily Wire site.
As for the question regarding Cara Dune’s future, it’s not yet known whether she will be recast or killed off. But since production is slated to begin from this April, so we should know soon.
