Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania writer, Jeff Loveness, recently revealed in an interview with Backstory Magazine that Michael Douglas’s character, Hank Pym, was almost set to make his final appearance in the most recent Marvel Studios film.
Pym’s Role In The Third Ant-Man Movie
Pym had a significant role in the third Ant-Man movie and managed to keep ants relevant in the story. He was mentally controlling them and almost became a hive mind of ants.
Pym’s Almost Death And Undead Consciousness
According to Loveness, at one point, they were going to kill off Pym by the end of the third Ant-Man movie. However, his consciousness would live on through the ants, and he would be mentally controlling them. This idea did not make it to the final cut of the movie.
Cut Scenes In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania
There were also other cut scenes in the movie, such as a psychological sequence in Paul Rudd’s probability storm scene that would have included a man-sized ant voiced by Werner Herzog. Loveness wanted to give it some sort of Holy Mountain advice and some Vision Quest thing. Unfortunately, this idea did not make it to the final cut.
Fan’s Reaction To Pym’s Demise
It is probably best that these cut scenes never made it into the final cut of the movie. Fans weren’t too keen on many parts of Quantumania. It’s hard to see audiences reacting too well to an undead Hank Pym hive-mind. However, his army of ants was pretty great, at the very least.
Deleted Scenes In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania
While Pym’s undead consciousness and a human-sized ant won’t ever be seen, fans might get some fun deleted scenes when the project releases on home media.
