George R.R. Martin first released Fire and Blood in 2018. Now, HBO’s House of the Dragon will tell the tale of House Targaryen’s fall from glory. The series is set 200 years prior to Game of Thrones and the advent of Daenerys Targaryen. Paddy Considine will star in the prequel as the current king of the Seven Kingdoms, King Viserys I Targaryen. In addition, Matt Smith will play his brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen, and Emma D’Arcy will play his firstborn child and heir, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The show will include all the major elements that occurred before the Targaryen Civil War known as “The Dance of Dragons.”

Martin has previously commented on how thrilled he is with the pilot episode of House of the Dragon. However, fans haven’t had a chance to get a sneak peek into the upcoming fantasy series yet. The year is filled with intriguing shows coming up o a great places. And while there are new trailers being dropped every other day, even HBO Max’s programming chief has decided to share a new update on when the first trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel might make it to the internet.

HBO Exec Gives House of the Dragon Update

Casey Bloys recently interviewed with The Hollywood Reporter. Apparently, the fantasy genre has seen marvelous trailers for Halo and Rings of Power in recent weeks. So it was imminent to ask Boys about the much-anticipated release of the House of the Dragon trailer, as well as whether the show would leave a mark at San Diego Comic-Con.

Addressing the second matter, Boys stated that he is currently in no position to say anything about a possible Comic-Con presence as the plans were still under development. However, the programming chief further mentioned that fans do not have to wait long for HBO to release some teaser material. The boys’ full response is stated as below:

“I don’t know about Comic-Con; we haven’t announced any of our plans yet. I don’t even want to say “soon” but you’ll start to see material … if I say “soon,” I’ll leave that vague. So maybe soon.”

The new update suggests that things are moving at a good pace. Earlier in December, House of the Dragon star Rhys Ifans had revealed that the series was still filming. While the actor was unaware of how the promotional activities would move forward, he made sure to express his excitement for the Game of Thrones prequel. In fact, he did not seem to have any intentions of revealing any spoilers either.

With that said, there are franchise mainstays other than Ifans who are eagerly waiting for the upcoming series. Peter Dinklage seemed engrossed in breaking down the details of the spin-off following the massive success of Game of Thrones. Dinklage said that it was exciting to look forward to House of the Dragon without having any prior knowledge of the inner workings of the show.

Furthermore, several reports have confirmed that HBO is currently developing a bunch of spin-offs. While Martin is thoroughly surprised by the news, fans have invested their time in understanding how House of the Dragon will manage to captivate the mystic nature of the epic lore that was Game of Thrones.

The HBO series was enormously appreciated throughout its earlier seasons. However, the eighth and final season disappointed fans to a great extent. Viewers and critics have expressed their backlash regarding the upsetting endings of their favorite characters’ stories. But HBO seems to have risen above the criticism with its phenomenal plans. So, it will be interesting to see House of the Dragon overcome its many drawbacks with its mesmerizing story.
