Awards season will soon be upon us and major networks and streamers have started sending in their nominations. HBO has sent in a list that will make House of the Dragon fans really happy as it features a tonne of their favourite actors. So let us get into the list!

HBO Max’s Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon, has been a ratings juggernaut for the streamer. Season one of the show ran from August 21 to October 23, and dominated social media conversation with its high production value, great writing, and of course, dragons. It’s an asset that HBO wants to utilise to grab awards to go along with the massive viewership numbers. And they have put their best foot forward for it.

As per Gold Derby, HBO has submitted Paddy Considine and Emma D’Arcy for Lead Actor and Lead Actress considerations in the upcoming awards season.

Paddy Considine plays King Viserys I Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy plays adult Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. HBO’s decision to send these two actors for the Lead Actor and Actress category is understandable since the major drama of the show is centred around the King naming his daughter, Rhaenyra, as his heir rather than his son, who he has later.

Other Actors Sent For Nominations

Game of Thrones racked up awards in huge numbers when it was on air, and HBO is surely looking to repeat the same magic with House of the Dragon. So along with Paddy Considine and Emma D’Arcy, they have sent other actor names for award nominations.

The streamer has sent the names for Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole, Matthew Needham as Lord Larys Strong, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen in the supporting actors category.

Along with this, HBO is also putting forth a list of five supporting actresses too. This includes Emily Carey as young Alicent Hightower, Milly Alcock as young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, and Olivia Cooke as adult Alicent Hightower.

So HBO is sending in almost actor’s name who played a major recurring character in the show. And the actors deserve their flowers because the show wouldn’t be half as good if not for the actors bringing the characters to life so beautifully.
