Disney+ show Andor has attempted to change the way Star Wars stories are generally told. Instead of the usual soap opera storylines, the show has boldly stepped foot in dark murky waters and decided to delve into the authoritarian nature of the Empire in brutal details.

One representation of that fascist nature is the prison system at Narkina 5. In Episode 9, we got to know how it functions and how many guards are there. So now the question is- how will Andor escape? We have some theories.

How Will Andor Escape The Prison?

Out of the 12 episodes in season 1 of Andor, only 3 remain. As such, it’s clear that after all the prison buildup, it’s time for our titular hero to finally escape or try to. After all, the last scene of episode 9 where Andy Serkis’ Kino Loy finally reveals that there are no more than 12 guards in each floor, set the stage for an escape attempt.

Right now, in the entire prison facility there are no more than 84 guards and 4000 prisoners. So Andor and his crew definitely have the numbers to rush the guards. And we have seen Andor chipping away at a pipe. Also, we know that the floors can be electrified. All these are hints given by the show on how the team will ultimately escape.

And we have some theories on how the escape plan could be carried out:

Theory 1

One theory states that Andor will cut the bathroom pipe. This will make the water spill out everywhere. Due to this, the guards will have to come to check on it and then everyone can rush them. Now, with so much water flooding the floor maybe it would be dangerous for the guards to step in it with the electricity on, even with their boots. So they will have to turn off the electricity and this will give the prisoners a chance.

Another theory states that it’s the pipe that’s part of the electrical circuit. So if Andor manages to cut it, he can shut down electricity to his floor by causing a short circuit. As a result, without the electrical floors to worry about, the prisoners can overpower the guards and escape.

We also know that the lift and ramp aren’t electrified. So even if Andor can’t cut off power to his floor completely, a handful of prisoners can rush the guards on the ramp and lift, and take their electro staff, uniforms, and boots. Then they can then free the others. Also, now, with Kino on board, the process will probably go more smoothly.

Theory 3

Overpowering the guards is just one phase of the escape plan. Then comes the next phase- how will they get out of Narkina 5? There are no pods or ships there. But all hope is not lost. One way they can escape is by taking the transport that will bring in Ulaf’s replacements.

In the previous episode we saw the guards fry 100 prisoners. So that’s a whole floor that has to be replaced. As such, it’s possible that multiple transport ships will be showing up with prisoners. Also, the prison guards must have a way of coming and going so there must be a ship Andor’s crew can capture there as well.

But there’s another question- how will Andor and his team know the arrival time of the ships? They will know because the guard rooms will most probably be down to just one person.

Theory 4

Narkina 5 prison system

Andor and this crew have to complete the whole escape plan without the Empire knowing that there’s anything wrong in the prison system. As Andor said to Luthen, they will have to act like they belong there. So if the entire prison wants to escape, that can’t happen at once.

The best way to free everyone will be to blend in with the uniforms and ensure that the routine is still going on. Everyone will have to act like nothing has changed and everything is normal if people want a chance to escape.

What do you think? How will Andor and his team escape the maximum security prison?
