The news is that Netflix’s blockbuster series The Witcher has cast two of its leading sorceresses for the upcoming Season 3. The series first premiered on the streaming network in 2019. It is based on the fantasy novel series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Prior to the Netflix adaptation, The Witcher was also turned into a series of popular video games.

The show tells the story of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter whose destiny is intertwined with Princess Ciri, played by Freya Allen. It is true that the series has only run for two seasons so far. But the franchise is keeping up the pace. Because it even aired an animated prequel film titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf in 2021. In addition, there is an upcoming 2022 prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin.

While the franchise is expanding its fantastical universe, The Witcher Season 3 is right around the corner. The show was renewed in September 2021, which was several months before Season 2 dropped on the streaming service on December 17, 2021. It is important to note that the series is only roughly following the source material when it comes to the order of events. But seeing how there are certain plot details from prequels and spinoffs already in place, Season 3 will probably finish out the story of Time of Contempt and move on to Baptism of Fire.

A previous report suggested that the cast began filming the season in April of this year. And as time passes by, the production has been introducing more and more new members into the fold. Apart from this, Recurring roles have been given to Hugh Skinner, Christelle Elwin, Robbie Amell, and Meng’er Zhang, who is best known for playing Xialing in the MCU Phase 4 project Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The Witcher-focused update site Redanian Intelligence is constantly dropping updates regarding the casting of the series from their sources. The casting announcement of Summer of Rockets’ Safiyya Ingar has already been made.

And now, sources are pondering on the fact that she will be playing the sorceress Keira Metz, a young woman on King Foltest of Temeria’s council. In addition, the show has also added actress Rochelle Rose, potentially as Margarita Laux-Antille. She is another sorceress who is friends with Anya Chalotra’s character Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Now, Rochelle Rose must not be associated with the Titanic actress of the same name. Because she is a fresh face whose career has just begun to peak. Rose is basically a stage actress. The star has previously landed several lead roles in fairytale-inspired projects including Cinderella, Aladdin, The Winter’s Tale, and Jack & The Beanstalk.

While she did play some remarkable television roles in 2016, her onscreen career truly commenced in 2020 with a role on the UK mystery drama Death in Paradise. This was followed by the 2021 films Ear for Eye and Boxing Day.

Also a noteworthy point is that the characters these actresses are playing have not yet been officially confirmed by The Witcher’s production team yet. With that said, the casting announcements for The Witcher Season 3 look like they’re perfectly aligned. And if the speculations and sources are correct, then the forthcoming season is going to get even more magical. And it will probably even depict a fascinating storyline involving the Lodge of Sorceresses.
