The Witcher season 2 trailer from Netflix shows how powerful Ciri will be compared to Geralt in season 2. Following the fall of Cintra, Geralt of Rivia swears to protect Princess Cirilla, with the Witcher believing that his fate is intertwined with the young scion’s. Compared to Geralt in The Witcher season 1, Ciri appears to be a more powerful warrior as she embarks on a journey to fulfill her destiny and save the entire Continent.
Despite the Netflix series’ efforts to keep Ciri’s magical abilities vague by only showing glimpses of what they can do, she had already demonstrated immense magical potential by the end of The Witcher season 1.
This ability to supernaturally control others is demonstrated in Ciri’s screams at Queen Calanthe, which shows Ciri’s ability to control even her independent mother. The Witcher series later builds on Ciri’s innate magic, making her a valuable resource for the Nilfgaardian army.
All of this evidence suggests that Ciri will quickly surpass Geralt in power as Season 2 of The Witcher progresses. It’s clear from the new Netflix trailer that Ciri is growing increasingly powerful and uncontrollable, suggesting that her Source-powered abilities will improve as the season goes on. A more self-assured Cirilla can also be seen in The Witcher’s season 2 trailer, standing alongside Geralt and learning combat skills that will serve her well as the series progresses.
After all, the ominous Nilfgaardian Cahir is pursuing Ciri because he wants her power more than he wants to end the Cintran line. While Andrzej Sapkowski’s original novels confirm that Ciri will eventually learn how to channel her power directly, giving her the ability to control time, the Witcher series has yet to reveal exactly what powers a Source possesses. Season 2 of The Witcher will major impact Geralt’s and all other characters’ power levels if this important revelation is revealed.
Ciri’s abilities are growing, however, for a different reason: she is growing more confident. Despite the hints in Season 1 of The Witcher about Ciri’s extraordinary abilities, she was a cowardly old lady befitting her age and stature. When we first see the Cintran princess in the season 2 trailer, she is a picture of certainty, confidently striding through the streets of the city with a sword in hand. Ciri appears to have benefited greatly from her time spent with Geralt in-between seasons, as she does in Sapkowski’s book series when under Geralt’s tutelage.
As a result, Ciri appears to be rapidly emerging as a formidable opponent. Her cool demeanor evidenced this against Leshen in the Witcher 2 season 2 trailer. Despite being born into a family of powerful witches, Ciri is becoming more potent than Geralt in The Witcher 2. All thanks to her mentor, she’s getting the help to gain confidence in her abilities as she learns more about her heritage as a Source.
