Warner Bros Discovery released the first trailer for “The Flash” movie and won social media over. Fans loved seeing Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton return as Batman while they gushed over Sasha Calle’s introduction as Supergirl. However, there was one event that took everyone’s breath away, it was the recreation of Zod’s invasion that had happened in “Man of Steel.”

Overall, it was a trailer that marked the beginning of the end for the DCEU and the start of the DCU. How? Let us explain.

For a long time it was rumored that “The Flash” film was going to reset and reboot the DC universe. This first trailer has indeed confirmed that it will probably happen.

Also, James Gunn has confirmed that “The Flash” will reboot the DC universe. However, he elaborated that will still keep some actors from the previous films in his new DCU. For example, Viola Davis will stay on as Amanda Waller.

Also, in the leaks of the film that were posted on the DCEU leaks subreddit, it was mentioned that along with Ben Affleck, other members of the Justice League will also be shown. Whether Henry Cavill has an appearance in the film in any way, isn’t clear for now.

Additionally, speaking of Cavill, the film is recreating Zod’s invasion without his Superman. So that seems like an indication that his time as Superman is truly over and has been for quite sometime. After all, “The Flash” movie began shooting in 2021 when fan support to bring him back was at an all time high.

But even the previous regime of Warner Bros decided to instead bring Supergirl onboard. As such, it truly looks like Dwayne Johnson and co used him as a pawn to market their “Black Adam” film. But there’s no use crying over spilled milk.

Overall, this might as well be the last hurrah of the DCEU or the Snyderverse cast before James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU begins anew.

It was rumored for a long time that at the end of “The Flash” film, we will see a completely new universe. It was said that only Jason Momoa’s Aquaman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will remain from the previous universe. Also, it was speculated that they will join Michael Keaton’s Batman and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in the new timeline.

Also, supposedly, Keaton was going to be the main Batman of the DC universe going forward. But those plans were cancelled after Gunn and Safran took charge. Now, the new DCU will have its new Batman and Superman. As for Momoa and Gadot, their future in the DCU is uncertain.

But so is Keaton and Calle’s. Scooper Grace Randolph recently reported that the duo have been cut from the ending scene of “The Flash.” This is the same scene that was supposed to make it clear which characters are in the new DCU.

As such, this implies that Gunn perhaps wants to start over with a clean slate. This doesn’t bode well for Keaton and especially Calle’s future in the DCU. However, this does imply that “The Flash” will in someway be used to usher in the new era while saying goodbye to the old one. What will it be, that remains to be seen.

As such, this might be the last time DC fans will see a lot of their beloved Justice League characters on-screen. How do you feel about that ? Let us know in the comments.
