Marvel Studios is ready to enter Phase 5 with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania next month. Even though Marvel Studios has not yet entered Phase 5, they have already begun planning for Phase 6. The Fantastic Four is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The Fantastic Four reboot was announced as the opening film of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer, and Disney announced on Tuesday that its release date has been moved back to February 2025.

The film was supposed to be directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home), but he dropped out in April. Matt Shakman, the departing WandaVision director, will take over as director. Marvel confirmed at the D23 Expo in September.

Ever since announcement of Fantastic Four, there have been several rumors concerning the cast and crew. The most recent rumor is regarding the villain Marvel Studios might choose to battle toe-to-toe with the Fantastic Four in their much-awaited 2025 MCU debut.

You can’t believe every MCU rumor you hear, but new reports suggest that Doctor Doom might be the villain of the forthcoming Fantastic Four movie. This would be enormous news since Doctor Doom is one of the most dangerous villains in comics, and his debut in the MCU might offer us another Avengers-level bad guy. If this rumor is true, it would be consistent with claims that Silver Surfer will be released before the F4 film.

Doctor Doom Rumored To Be The Fantastic Four’s Main Villain

The film’s antagonist is still unknown, but new rumors suggest that Doctor Doom will be the main antagonist in the Fantastic Four reboot. Doctor Doom is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest villains in comic book history.

Doctor Doom, better known as Victor Von Doom, was Stan Lee’s favorite villain since he was the King of Latveria and so had diplomatic immunity. He was Reed’s college competitor who rejected his advice concerning a fault in a machine he was working on when he first appeared in Fantastic Four No. 5 in 1962. The resulting explosion scarred Doom’s face, so he began wearing a unique mask to disguise his damage.

Doom, like Reed, is a brilliant scientist. Along with his mask, he built a powerful suit of armor, which fills the void left by Tony Stark’s demise in Avengers: Endgame. Aside from his scientific abilities, Doom is a formidable sorcerer who can compete with Dr. Strange. In both the 1985 and 2015 Secret Wars stories, he acquired ultimate power. He’s one of the only villains capable of fighting the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Perhaps the rumors about Victor Von Doom beginning as an ally with a hard connection to Reed and his colleagues are true. Due to the differences between them, Doom will emerge as the major villain as the story progresses.

Doctor Doom To Appear In Post-Credit Scene

Victor Von Doom is said to make his first appearance in The Fantastic Four in the post-credit sequences. According to a reliable source, Doom will initially debut in the rebooted version as a cameo appearance in the post-credit sequence. This would result in establishing the groundwork for the following plot line.

The Fantastic Four film franchise was rebooted in 2015 by filmmaker Josh Trank. That film featured a fantastic ensemble, including Miles Teller as Reed, Kate Mara as Sue, Michael B. Jordan as Johnny, Jamie Bell as Ben, and Toby Kebbell as Doom, but it was a joyless muddle.

Let’s hope Marvel Studios eventually gives the Fantastic Four the film treatment they deserve.

The Fantastic Four hits cinemas on February 14, 2025.
