Actress Gina Carano was swiftly fired from the hit Disney+ series The Mandalorian on Wednesday night after she reshared a post that seemed to suggest having a differing political view in 2021 was similar to being Jewish during the Holocaust.

The popular Star Wars franchise had finished season 2 and Carano’s character Cara Dune seemed poised for a return in some form.

Let’s have a look at all controversial social media posts that Gina Carano has made in the past one year which made Lucasfilm take the decision of removing her from the franchise.

In August 2020, Gina Carano faced the wrath of the transgender community after she allegedly mocked their identity on Twitter.

Adding pronouns to a Twitter bio has been a conventional practice that many trans and cisgender people have followed. Carano was once asked if she would do the same by including ‘he/she’ in her Twitter bio, to which the former Strikeforce contender responded by adding ‘boop/bob/beep’ to her Twitter user name.

Many found Carano’s actions poking fun at people who are usually mispronounced. The ex-Mandalorian star received heavy criticism, but stood firm with her indications that ‘boop/bob/beep had zero to do with mocking trans people’

Speaking against the Covid restriction:

In November of 2020, she shared a meme on Twitter seemingly criticizing mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier that month, she also shared false information about voter fraud around the 2020 Presidential Election.

In December she mocked both the vaccine and mail voting.

Later in December Pedro Pascal shows support to Gina Carano amidst campaigns to get her fired.

Then she accuses the press of running a smear campaign against her.

While speaking on the Drunk 3PO YouTube channel, the actress said that she’ll “stick around” and appeared unapologetic about the way her social media presence rubs some people up the wrong way.

“I’M GOING TO STICK AROUND AND IF MY PRESENCE BOTHERS YOU, OK, BUT ALSO A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOT BOTHERED BY MY TWITTER PRESENCE OR MY SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE. SO I FOCUS MORE ON THOSE PEOPLE. I BRING THE FIRE OUT IN PEOPLE. I’M NOT SURE WHY.”

She also explained why she started speaking out on Social Media.

“THE WHOLE REASON I STARTED SPEAKING OUT IS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE THERE IS A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT WERE BEING SILENCED THIS YEAR AND BEING FORCED TO PLAY THIS GAME OF WOKEISM OR WHATEVER IT IS. NO MATTER WHO YOU VOTED FOR, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, I WANT TO CREATE A PLATFORM WHERE EVERYBODY CAN HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY. EVERYBODY.”

Yesterday she shared an image refering:

“being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust.”

This last tweet made pressure on Lucasfilm to take action against her. In the statement they said:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” the production company said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

That being said, the overwhelming majority of people do indeed seem to be pleased to see Gina Carano booted from The Mandalorian and while it remains to be seen how this situation will develop moving forward, it’ll probably be a long time before the actress finds herself attached to another big name franchise.

Carano has yet to comment on her firing.
