If there’s a Disney+ Star Wars show that we are eagerly awaiting for then it’s The Mandalorian season 3. But it looks like we all have to wait a long time to see Mando and his team in action again. This is because, Pedro Pascal, who plays Din Djarin in the show, recently said that the crew and cast hadn’t started shooting as of yet.

Let us tell you more about it.

Has The Mandalorian Season 3 Started Shooting?

Pedro Pascal revealed the news during a Variety’s Actors on Actors interview with Ewan McGregor, who himself will be reprising his role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in a Disney+ Star Wars series of the same name. During the interview, McGregor asked Pascal if principal photography for the third season has begun.

To that Pascal responded:

“We haven’t shot a third season so, confidentially… actually, maybe I shouldn’t say.”

Then Pascal paused and cheekily said that he should in fact reveal everything. He said: “So, let me tell you what’s going on!” before the two of them burst out laughing.

When Will The Mandalorian Season 3 Begin Shooting?

Previously, there were rumours that principal photography would begin in April, but as we know now, that’s false. But it’s not really surprising to us that the show hasn’t started shooting its third season as of it. After all, there are two other Star Wars Disney+ TV shows that are in production right now. So completing production on them will be the main concern for Lucasfilm and Disney.

As for The Mandalorian- we actually think that production won’t begin on it till late 2021. This is because McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series has started filming only in May. Also, The Book of Boba Fett (a spin-off of The Mandalorian) was still continuing to film in April as per Bespin Bulletin, a Star Wars fan account.

So it’s possible that Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau (main people behind the creative team of The Mandalorian) are still involved in the production of The Book of Boba Fett. So it will be some time till they will be concentrate on the third season of The Mandalorian. Basically, they won’t be able to begin working on Mando till Boba Fett finishes off.

However, this doesn’t mean that there’s no work being done on season 3. We are sure that pre-production work has already begun. Also, it’s possible that Filoni, Favreau, as well as Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, has discussed season 3. Right now, we are expecting that The Mandalorian will go on the floors once The Book of Boba Fett wraps up.

So this is why we think that filming will begin in earnest on season 3 by the end of this year only. As such, we shouldn’t expect anything regarding promotional materials before mid-2022 at the earliest. Guess, the wait just got longer.
