Despite being fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, director James Gunn has since been hired back. The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker are Gunn’s most recent high-profile projects with Warner Bros. Fans are eagerly anticipating his return to Marvel Studios after his successful stint in the DC Comics universe. Fans will have to wait until May 5, 2023, to see their favorite band of galactic misfits again after Vol. 3 was originally scheduled for 2020.
Nothing about their next adventure has been revealed yet. but fans can count on Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Bradley Cooper’s Rocket, Dave Bautista’s Drax, Vin Diesel’s Groot, Karen Gillan, and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora to seem once again at least. Following Infinity War and Endgame, which saw the death of the original Gamora, which fans have been following since 2014, the new film will follow the gang.
Chukwudi Iwuji, an actor who previously worked with James Gunn on Peacemaker, has joined the cast. His character’s identity is a mystery, but rumors suggest that he may be The High Evolutionary, the film’s villain.
Until now, Iwuji hasn’t had a chance to express his thoughts on all the internet rumors.
During an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Chukwudi Iwuji, who appeared in both Peacemaker and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, talked about his upcoming role in James Gunn’s upcoming Marvel Studios film.
Aside from being “fun” to be the subject of internet speculation, he says he has recently “[seen] those.”
“I saw those recently…the Silver Surfer, I saw Nova… I just can’t, for me to wrap my head around the fact that I am the subject of speculation on the internet is kinda fun. It’s kinda fun… but I have to stay mum. I can’t tell you. I’d love to.”
“The video feed would just cut out right now” was Iwuji’s joke about how Marvel snipers would get them if the actor confirmed anything.
To see how Iwuji reacted to the rumored roles that he would be playing, the interviewer played a fun game in front of the actor. All three names were easily memorized by him, as one might expect given the circumstances.
As strong as the rumors are, Chukwudi Iwuji’s chances of playing The High Evolutionary are very good. The actor’s demeanor would be perfect for a villain. Iwuji can do no wrong in any role he takes on, even if it’s a supporting one.
No, the next time fans see Guardians of the Galaxy will not be in Vol. 3. They will appear in Thor’s upcoming film, Love, and Thunder, which is currently filming. Despite rumors to the contrary, even a small amount of dialogue between them and the God of Thunder is better than nothing.
The crew will have a lot on their plate if they want to make a proper third film in the series. Aside from Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock (and his likely darker side, Magus), the MCU will have to make do with the Sovereign and the Sovereign, who could serve as the MCU’s answer to The Universal Church of Truth.
Fans will have to wait a long time before learning more about the movie. It’s a good thing there’s a lot of Marvel Studios material to enjoy while we wait.
