With the ten-year time jump, we see that Prince Daemon has taken another wife after the death of Lady Rhea Royce. He has married Laena Velaryon and has two beautiful daughters with her. Daemon and Laena have left King’s Landing and Driftmark as well. Instead, they have chosen a life of adventure and ended up in Pentos where they aided Prince Reggio in fighting his enemies with their dragons.

In the episode we see Prince Reggio make quite a lucrative offer to Daemon and Laena. He asks them to remain at Pentos and help him build up the city’s defenses. After all, who would not want to have three dragons defend their kingdom? In return, Prince Reggio offered Daemon and Laena a life of prosperity. He would give them all the riches, gold and horses required to live a lavish and luxurious life. In fact, Prince Daemon wanted to take him up on that offer while Laena wanted to return to Driftmark and live as royals, the way they were meant to.

Prince Reggio rules over the free city of Pentos in Essos which is one of the most ruthless cities. Prince Reggio was chosen to be their Prince from one of the forty  Great Families, after a number of fancy demonstrations. He is the Prince although he has a council of rich magisters who aid him in this regard. Prince Reggio in the meanwhile held feasts and hosted other powerful allies from all over including Daemon and Laena. It is a very rich kingdom as it holds a monopoly over trade and ships pass by it daily while crossing the Narrow Seas. Other than this, not much is mentioned about Prince Reggio in the books. In fact, in Fire and Blood, the prince remains an anonymous host of Daemon and Laena. Nonetheless, House of the Dragon might go in a different direction.

While Daemon was initially considering Prince Reggio’s offer, after the death of his wife Laena Velaryon, he most likely will not be remaining at Pentos. The duty of his two daughters also fall on him. He needs to raise them and be their father. Daemon will also look for another suitable match and marry a third time. If you’ve read the books, you’ll know he marries Rhaenyra. So naturally he won’t be staying at Pentos. Nonetheless, he has gained an ally in Prince Reggio Haratis. After all, he did come to his aid when required. While in the books he does not play any role in the Dance of the Dragons, the show might move in a different direction. The blacks need every little bit of help that they can get. And with the resources and wealth of Pentos, the blacks would definitely become strengthened. After all, the greens have already started playing the game after Lord Larys killed Ser Harwin Strong, Rhaenyra’s fiercest ally. Still all of this is just conjecture, only time will tell what happens next!
