In the previous episode of House of the Dragon, Prince Daemon and Lord Corlys had entered into an alliance with one another. Lord Corlys needed Daemon’s support to wage war in the Stepstones and save Driftmark from Craghas Drahar the Crabfeeder. Lord Corlys was also supported by his Velaryon armies and his eldest son Laenor Velaryon. As it turns out they had been fighting alone for three years without any help from the Crown and the King as they had directly disobeyed his orders and started the battle in the Stepstones. Their resources were dwindling, their men were losing motivation and the dragons became useless once Craghas Drahar and his armies came up with the idea of hiding within caves to avoid the dragonfire.
