House of the Dragon has been a rollercoaster ride with betrayals, murders, incest, and a sad miscarriage. The last one was suffered by Rhaenyra Targaryen when she was trying to birth her sixth child. Now, newly released pics has revealed dragon features on the baby. So this begs the question- why and how did Rhaenyra birth a deformed dragon baby? Lets explore.

New Pictures Prove Rhaenyra Targaryen’s Baby Had Dragon Features

Taking to Instagram, Barrie Gower, the prosthetics designer of the show shared pictures of Rhaenyra’s miscarried baby. The pics show the baby to be gray and having a large pointy head with scales on its back. In the books, the baby was a girl and Rhaenyra named her Visenya.

This is the second time we are seeing a baby birthed by a Targaryen woman having dragon features. Viewers of Game of Thrones will remember that Daenerys Targaryen’s miscarried baby Rhaego was said to have dragon wings. So this makes us ask- Are Targaryens really Dragons?

Are Targaryen’s Actually Dragons In Human Form? 

In light of the pictures released by the prosthetics designer, various theories have been going around about the Targs. One popular theory is that Targaryen babys start off as dragons in the womb and then become humans when they reach full term.

Many fans think that Targaryens used blood magic to bind the dragons to them so that these apex predators would accept them as riders. And it’s possible that this magic made the Targs actually start off as dragons in the womb. We now have 2 incidences that prove this. Maybe this lets the dragons know that they are essentially kin.

Also, even though Targs aren’t heatproof but they have a higher tolerance to heat and it could be because of this. Several Targaryens in the books have referred to themselves as blood of the dragon and some even seriously think that they are dragons in human form. And now it looks like that might be true.
