House of the Dragon has no shortage of eagle-eyes fans who observe every little detail in the show. The series is set around 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones and 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen was born. It is inspired by sections of the book Fire & Blood. So, many things are similar between both shows, which makes House of the Dragon good content for easter eggs.

House of the Dragon writer Ryan Condal disclosed a few of the Game of Thrones easter eggs on the series. However, the plot still develops into bitter conflicts, envy, desire, the struggle for power, and treachery to end the Targaryen empire. Cat’s Paw Dagger That Arya Used To Kill The Night King

King Viserys presents Rhaenyra with a dagger with a message inscribed before the conclusion of House of the Dragon episode four. Viserys recounts that Aegon the Conqueror had dreams foretelling Valyria’s downfall, “From my blood comes The Prince Who Was Promised, and his will is the Song of Ice and Fire,” the dagger says.

Aegon foresaw the arrival of the Long Winter and the necessity for a Targaryen to rule – a link to the prophecy that Jon Snow carried to reality after Game of Thrones. Arya Stark used the same catspaw dagger to murder the Night King in the last season of Game of Thrones.

During a game of jousting with Ser Criston Cole in the opening episode, Prince Daemon Targaryen wields a sword called Dark Sister. Visenya, Aegon the Conqueror’s sister plus wife, formerly wielded the Dark Sister blade.

Whereas in Game of Thrones, Arya Stark discusses this sword with Tywin Lannister while claiming to be a servant-girl.

In House of the Dragon, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower talk about Nymeria, the legendary soldier who helped pioneer House Martell’s power.

Nymeria is the name of Arya Stark’s dire wolf in Game of Thrones.

Nevertheless, it is also claimed that this allusion to the historical person foreshadows a Game of Thrones spinoff named 10,000 Ships, which is now under production.

‘Jason Lannister’ Has Appeared on Game of Thrones

Lord Jason Lannister and his twin brother Tyland are introduced in the third episode. It was quite nice to see a Lannister Lord being talked down to by King Viserys Targaryen when he decided not to force Rhaenyra to marry Lord Jason.

Jefferson Hall portrayed Ser Hugh of the Vale in two Game of Thrones episodes in season one. He plays both Lannister twins in House of the Dragon.

Rhaenyra obtains a map in episode four that takes her to a hidden tunnel under her bed.  After passing through the tunnel, the princess encounters her uncle, Daemon Targaryen, and crosses the skull of Balerion the Black Dread (the biggest of all the dragons that have existed).

Jamie Lannister encountered his sister, Queen Cersei, along the same hidden corridor in the concluding episode of Game of Thrones. As the palace disintegrated over them, the lovers perished in each other’s arms.
