House of the Dragon episode 4 had a lot of twists, turns and politics, and Episode 5’s preview is setting it all up for the bigger questions being raised to Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne. Let’s have a breakdown to try and understand what we can expect in the next episode.
House Of The Dragon Episode 5 Trailer Breakdown
The trailer opens with King Viserys and Rhaenyra sitting at the higher seating of a hall. Viserys announces that he is proposing a royal wedding for his daughter. And then, the scene cuts down to two dragons flying around the open sea, with a voiceover that the marriage will be a new age for the dragons.
Rhaenyra accepted the proposal of marriage by King Viserys, on a condition that he punishes Otto Hightower for what he said and did. Even though Otto was not completely at fault, but his judgement could have compromised Rhaenyra’s reputation to be the heir.
The scene then cuts to Lord Corlys and his wife. His wife tells Corlys that Rhaenyra’s succession will be challenged and knives will come out. And just then, we see a fight raging out probably in the hall where Viserys announced the wedding of his daughter.
It is assumable that some people might have raised questions on Princess’s maidenhood or toasted the rumour of her being in a pleasure house with Daemon. To this, King must have ordered to rip the eyes of the person who disrespected his daughter.
We then see Daemon and Lord Corlys at a different setup. It can be probably said that they are now in alliance. But the trailer doesn’t give a clear picture about it.
We then hear Otto Hightower’s voice saying that, “The king will die, and if Rhaenyra succeeds him then war will follow”
Just at this moment, we see Rhaenyra in her royal gown tripping as if someone is attacking her. It is probably the connecting scene where the fight wages in the hall during the announcement.
Otto’s voiceover continues as he says to Alicent Hightower, “Prepare Aegon to rule!”
As King has freed Otto Hightower from his duties, this scene is probably when he was leaving King’s Landing. While going, he gave the last piece of advice to his daughter, Alicent. And this brings the trailer to an end!
The next episode is going to bring in some action and more questions on Rhaenyra’s claim to the throne.
