After House of the Dragon episode 6, we are completely into the political arrangements revolving around the throne. With this, there is increased anticipation for the seventh episode of the series. So, without wasting much time, let’s break down the teaser or preview of House of the Dragon episode 7.
The teaser opens with the coffin of Lady Laena Velaryon who asked her dragon to burn her alive. It was mostly because she didn’t want to share the same fate as Lady Aemma Arryn, first wife of King Viserys I. The coffin is then thrown into the sea as per the Velaryon tradition. We see King Viserys, Ser Laenor, Queen Alicent, Aegon, Rhaenyra and other members of the House Targaryen and Velaryon.
Everyone was here to pay the last respects to Lady Laena Velaryon, wife of Daemon Targaryen and mother to Rhaena and Baela Targaryen. There is a voiceover of Lord Corlys who is probably expressing the sorrow of his daughter’s death by saying, “What is this brief mortal life, if not the pursuit of legacy?”
And the scene changes to Rhaenys Targaryen removing a couple of her rings while a voiceover of Otto Hightower says, “We play an ugly game!”
It indicates that Ser Otto Hightower is now back and is planning on playing an ugly gamble within the realm to win over the throne for Aegon II Targaryen.
In the next scene, we get to probably see Vhagar, the dragon of late Laena Velaryon. There is a mystery about who would ride Vhagar, the largest dragon in all of Westeros and the world. We then get glimpses of Rhaenyra telling how everything Targaryens to own is owed to the fire. Just in the next scene, Rhaena Targaryen is informing someone that someone stole Vhagar.
There was a possibility that Rhaena would ride Vhagar as she was the only one in their family without a dragon. But, in the King’s Landing, even Aemond Targaryen was without a dragon. So, there might be a possibility that Alicent and Otto stole Vhagar for him. Time will confirm who rides the great Vhagar after Laena.
In the next few scenes, we see Alicent and Rhaenyra talking about treason and debt. We then see the violent actions of Alicent using a dagger against Rhaenyra. At the same time, we see Otto Hightower with Aegon, which signifies that Aegon is going to learn politics from his maternal grandfather. The teaser ends with Rhaenyra telling Alicent, that now people will see her the way she truly is.
There is supposedly a scene where Rhaenyra and Alicent will confront each other about their insecurities. Probably, a conflict must have awoken between them, which resulted in making Alicent violent towards Rhaenyra.
A lot more thrill awaits for us fans to witness in the remaining episodes of House of the Dragon Season 1. Stay tuned!!!
