Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye opened up to a good reception from the fans. Set around Christmas, 2024, Clint Barton is having a hard time adjusting to life. His best friend Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, willingly sacrificed her life on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame to save the world. And apparently, Barton is still grief-stricken. Amidst his inner turmoil, Clint finds himself spending the Holiday Season in New York City with his three children.

However, things are not looking good in New York City in the MCU. Underground black market auctions are happening. The Tracksuit Mafia has returned for some unfinished business. And an overzealous twenty-two-year-old girl named Kate Bishop kind of messes things up. All these hindrances come at Clint in his festive merriment. And as if that isn’t too much already…

Hawkeye’s ‘Thanos Was Right’ scribbling explained.

In Hawkeye Episode 1, an exaggerating theatrical production tries to pay homage to the first Captain America’s endeavors in the form of a showing titled Rogers: The Musical. The performance went on to make multiple references to Natasha Romanoff. And when Clint cannot take any more of it, he excuses himself to the restroom.

While standing at the urinal, a small piece of graffiti catches Clint’s eye. The three words scribbled on it read: Thanos was right.

Besides this interesting feature, there is also a coffee mug in the promo for a future series episode. And it is fashionably covered with the same presumptuous catchphrase.

A Not-So-Merry Christmas for the Barton Family

To insult injury, an insensitive fan tries to make conversation with Clint from the adjacent toilet. And he asks him for a selfie, right after Clint notices the words “Thanos was right.” Clint politely dismisses the man. He tells him that it is not an appropriate place or manner for such a request. But the fan does not take the hint and approaches Barton again at the sink and repeats the prior silly request for a photo.

Another factor that cannot be overlooked is some splinter groups that advocate Thanos’ purpose and actions. People like them would aggravate Clint more because everything that the Mad Titan did led him to lose his only best friend.

Interestingly enough, all these instances occur within the first five minutes when Clint appears on the Hawkeye screen. Suffice it to say; the Disney+ series has a lot more in store for our Avenging Archer.

It is apparent that the segment that supports the phrase “Thanos was Right” has been inspired by the real-world implications. The meme has become quite popular on social media networks like Reddit and many more over the last couple of years.
