Ned Leeds, Peter’s best friend, is expected to become Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 4, and a twisted theory suggests how Ned becomes Hobgoblin and why this will happen. In Phase 4, which is currently focused on the multiverse and its numerous dangers, some of which were explored in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand.
A few minutes after the conclusion of Spider-Man: Far From Home, in which Mysterio falsely framed Spider-Man for his death and disclosed his secret identity to the world, Peter Parker asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell that would be to make everyone forget he is Spider-Man. The spell went awry, allowing villains from previous Spider-Man films and alternate universes to infiltrate the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the help of MJ (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), however, Peter was able to save himself.
Spider-Man: No Way Home concluded with a spell to erase all memories of Peter Parker, as the multiverse chaos caused by Spider-Man and Strange spiraled out of control. In this case, the spell worked, and Peter was left to fend for himself. Fortunately, he has the opportunity to start over. With a fourth MCU Spider-Man movie in the works, Ned is expected to finally become the Hobgoblin, and a theory gives an idea of how it could happen, though it is a bit dramatic. MJ and Ned not remembering Peter was heartbreaking, but it also opened many doors for both.
They were instrumental in bringing “Peter-Two” and “Peter-Three” into this universe to team up with Peter to deal with the multiverse turmoil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, encompassing some of the villains. By trapping Doctor Strange in the Mirror Dimension and stealing his sling ring for Ned, Peter managed to get rid of him. After dealing with Aunt May’s death and the escape of the villains, Ned discovered that the Sling Ring could be used to create portals to locate PPeter.but instead, he and MJ discovered the other Peters.
Even though the sling ring isn’t a magical aartifact,it’s not an easy one to master, and even Strange had trouble opening his first portals with it. Ned, on the other hand, had little trouble opening portals with it. At first, Strange was surprised to see Ned able to open portals so quickly and easily, given that Ned’s grandmother claims there is magic in the family and that Ned claims to be able to feel tingling in his hands.
As a result of this and the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, there has been speculation that Ned will finally become the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 4. As a reporter for the Daily Bugle, Ned isn’t Peter’s best friend; instead, he’s a rival for the attention of Betty Brant. Ned followed the Hobgoblin to a hideout after Spider-Battle Man’s encounter with the villain, but he was captured and brainwashed by him. The Foreigner killed the Hobgoblin because he used Ned as a sham to fool the underworld into believing that Ned was the real deal.
Many fans have speculated about whether or not Ned Leeds will take on the role of the Hobgoblin in the upcoming MCU film, but his close friendship with Peter Parker has delayed those plans. Since Peter no longer considers Ned to be a close friend after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the possibility of Ned becoming the Hobgoblin is now greater than ever before, giving Marvel the freedom to reimagine the character and pit him against Peter’s former best friend.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions about how and why Ned will transform into Hobgoblin in the MCU. Ned’s Hobgoblin transformation may have been triggered by a love triangle with none other than MJ, according to a Reddit theory. Ned and MJ’s friendship could blossom into something more romantic if Peter isn’t around due to the final spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After Peter and MJ rekindle their romance, the author of this theory predicts that Ned will be devastated to see his former love returning to Peter and his best friend, and vice versa.
As a result, Ned may use his own magic to transform himself into a hero and use the Green Goblin’s technology in order to rescue MJ. but things will go awry, and he will become an enemy of Spider-Man, going full Hobgoblin. Spider-Man: No Way Home teased that Peter’s best friends from other universes would turn into villains and rthat romanticrelationships would also interfere with them.
Not only can Ned Leeds become the Hobgoblin by following in the footsteps of his comic book past, but a love triangle between Peter Parker and MJ and Ned Leeds is also a plausible explanation. This could be the beginning of Peter’s time at the Daily Bugle as well as Ned’s since he has no friends or family to support him. There is a chance that Ned’s interaction with some villain will kick off his transition or that he will decide to use magic for the first time. Ned’s alteration into the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 4 hasn’t been confirmed. but it wouldn’t be out of the question given the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has given the character more reasons to go down that path.
