WARNING! Contains SPOILERS for The Book of Boba Fett episode 7.

The finale of The Book of Boba Fett was nothing less than epic. However, it can’t be denied that the rumors were true. The Book of Boba Fett did turn out to be The Mandalorian 2.5.

Din Djarin and Grogu’s appearances were one of the most unexpected and fan-favorite surprises in The Book of Boba Fett. In the last episode, we saw the two finally reunite on Tatooine.

Episode 6 ended with Luke Skywalker offering Grogu an ultimatum. Grogu had to either choose the Jedi path or the Mandalorian one. And choosing one meant giving up the other.

In episode 7, R2D2 and Grogu flew to the desert planet, and this confirmed that Grogu had chosen his Mandalorian dad over the Jedi way. However, this doesn’t mean that we know what will happen with Grogu and Din Djarin next.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian ended with Mando telling goodbye to Grogu so that the little creature could start his Jedi training. The finale of Boba Fett changed that as Grogu chose Mando over his Jedi training. As such, his Jedi training is incomplete.

At the end of the finale, we see Mando and Grogu leave Tatooine in the N-1 Starfighter as Baby Yoda asks Din to speed up just for fun. At the end of the show, the Pyke Syndicate has been eliminated.

As for Grogu and Mando, they can go anywhere they want to in season 3 of their show. So it remains to be seen where they ultimately go.

Why Did The Mandalorian Reunite With Grogu?

Whether Grogu would choose the Jedi path or the Mandalorian way was a hotly debated topic since episode 6 aired. Finally, we get the answer to this question in episode 7.

We know that Grogu is Mando’s only family member after the Armorer cast him out of the creed for removing his helmet. Also, we know how much Din loves the little creature. He believed that Grogu would come back to him since Mando is Grogu’s family as well.

Now, Grogu has gone back to Mando. But this doesn’t mean that he has abandoned his Jedi side. Grogu can be both a Mandalorian and a Jedi, quite like Tarre Vizsla.

In fact, one of the most prevalent theories is how Grogu could be the next Mandalorian Jedi. Episode 7 even backs this up after Grogu uses the Force to destroy the scorpion droid and put the rancor to sleep.

So right now, it looks like this is just the beginning of Grogu’s story.

Where Are Din Djarin And Grogu Headed Next?

At the end of Boba Fett, Din Djarin has the Darksaber and of course Grogu. He also wants to redeem himself so that he can again be a part of The Children of the Watch. And as per the words of the Armorer, he will have to go to Mandalore for that.

Grogu and Din reuniting means that the duo will surely go on more adventures all over the galaxy. Moreover, Grogu is a previous padawan, and Mando has the Darksaber now.

So it might not be surprising to see Mando himself train Grogu in using the Darksaber. As such, Grogu might come one step closer to becoming the next Mandalorian Jedi.

Also, the Armorer blames Bo-Katan Kryze for the Night of a Thousand Tears. She said:

“If it (the Darksaber) is not won in combat and falls into the hands of the undeserving, it will be a curse unto the nation. Mandalore will be laid to waste and its people scattered to the four winds.”

In season 2, Bo-Katan makes it clear that this time she wants to win back the Darksaber in a fair fight. So the Darksaber is poised to play a huge role in season 3 of The Mandalorian, and it will reunite Bo and Mando again for sure.

This will give a unique perspective to Mando, who might abandon his creed and remove the helmet for good. Overall, if this happens, it will parallel Grogu’s story since he isn’t a full Mandalorian or Jedi.

Maybe, like Boba Fett, Din Djarin, too, will be “a simple man, making his way through the galaxy” with Grogu in season 3 of The Mandalorian.
