According to a recent report, two significant Spider-Man characters are still engaged in the ongoing Disney and Sony copyright issue. Spider-Man, who is based on the Marvel Comics character, has been portrayed on film by a variety of actors, including Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. While Spider-Man may have his origins in Marvel comics, Sony currently owns the cinematic rights to the superhero. As a result, Sony has created the Spider-Man Universe, which includes movies like Venom, Morbius, and the forthcoming Kraven the Hunter. While Spider-Man will be included in the MCU thanks to a deal between Marvel Studios and Sony, the future of the other Marvel superheroes is less certain.

In order for Spider-Man to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the corporations first chose to collaborate in February 2015. As they move into Phase 5, they are continuing to do so. It is just unheard of for large studios to share copyrights, but these two studios not only accomplished it but did it well.

Even though the partnership almost broke up after Spider-Man: Far From Home, a new agreement was reached in late 2019 that resulted in the generational event known as “No Way Home.” Along with what appear to be some vague conditions involving Sony’s own Spider-Man Universe, it also enabled Tom Holland to participate in an unnamed MCU project.

Kingpin and Spider-Woman are still caught up in the Disney vs. Sony legal dispute over the characters’ rights. Although Hawkeye served as the MCU’s first appearance of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin. Jessica Drew, as Spider-Woman, has yet to make any sort of live-action appearance. The future of Kingpin is anticipated to be significant in the MCU TV continuity, but Spider-Woman’s position is a little less certain.

Although Kingpin is primarily remembered as a Spider-Man nemesis, his three-season run on Netflix’s Daredevil has nearly entirely outgrown that association in recent years. He most recently appeared in Disney Plus’s Hawkeye, and his next appearance will be in Echo.
Fisk was most recently the main antagonist in Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated film. However, it’s crucial to note that the rights for animation and live-action are extremely distinct from one another.

A live-action Spider-Woman movie is not officially in the works, but Olivia Wilde has been linked to such a venture for a long period of time. The superhero will be voiced by Issa Rae in the upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, Kingpin’s live-action MCU future appears to be mostly unscathed for the time being. It remains to be seen how the ongoing rights disputes will continue to affect these two classic Spider-Man characters.
