Marvel Studios’ actor Martin Freeman has hinted that Disney+’s Secret Invasion will be different from anything else Marvel has done. Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos (both of whom were introduced in 2019’s ), the highly anticipated Disney+ series is scheduled to premiere in 2023. Freeman has remarked that the series would seem like a slight deviation from other MCU films, and this will be his third time playing CIA agent Everett K. Ross.

Martin Freeman Gives Insight

Talking to DigitalSpy, Martin Freeman, who plays the villain in Secret Invasion, mentioned many upcoming crossovers across Marvel Cinematic Universe shows. The actor who plays Everett Ross elaborated on the story’s complexity, calling it “labyrinthine”, due to the number of characters who interact with one another and the number of narrative threads.

Freeman described the show as one on the dark side with a little murkiness. Disney+’s Secret Invasion, he said, has a very distinct vibe from the other MCU productions he’s seen:

“It feels pretty different to stuff I’ve seen. It does feel like a little departure. Yeah, it does – in ways that I wouldn’t be that able to describe. Again, I’ve not seen it. I’ve not even read all of it.

He acknowledged that even if he has a little part in the online series, it is not ‘The Ross Show’. Although the series isn’t without flaws, it’s well worth seeing because of Ross’s excellent supporting role in Secret Invasion.

Who Might Surprise Fans in a Crossover Appearing in Secret Invasion?

Secret Invasion has been billed as Marvel Studios’ crossover event, and Martin Freeman’s words serve to reaffirm that. What does it all imply, though? Massive MCU crossover events have been witnessed in theaters, but not yet on Disney+ despite the service’s relatively brief history with the property.

It’s a fun guessing game since Secret Invasion is a narrative that unites so many characters from different Marvel universes. Therefore, these crossovers may be anybody. Even if Disney+’s version of the plot doesn’t go quite that far, at the rate of how swift Marvel is with surprise cameos, anything is possible. This is, however, purely conjectural at this time.
