Nick Fury is an extremely important character in the MCU and will be explored further. However, what if we tell you that he has actually been a Skrull in disguise all along? The Skrulls are a race of shape-shifting aliens who will appear during the upcoming project in the MCU known as Secret Invasion. They have slowly been taking over the roles of several notable superheroes in an attempt to infiltrate Earth. Here are the signs that Nick Fury is a Skrull.

Firstly during Spider-Man: Far from home, the end credits show that the Nick Fury shown in the movie is actually Talos. Talos is the Skrull we met during Captain Marvel. Moreover, during Spider-Man: No way home, we find out that Nick Fury has been off-earth for the last one year. But how far does this go? When did we last meet the real Nick Fury?

1. Avengers: Age of Ultron

During Captain Marvel, Nick Fury revealed a seemingly useless fact about himself. Apparently, he cannot eat sandwiches that are cut diagonally. This bit of information becomes crucial when viewed in the context of Age of Ultron. During Age of Ultron, which takes place 20 years later, Fury can be seen eating diagonally cut sandwiches quite nonchalantly. This definitely would be something that a Skrull imposter would miss.

2. Nickname (pun intended)

Fury claims during Captain Marvel that everyone calls him Fury. In fact, they even use this anecdote to weed out the Skrull impostors within S.H.I.E.L.D. in the movie itself. However, this is extremely contradicted throughout many movies in the MCU where a lot of people have referred to him as Nick. Maria Hill, one of his closest allies, called him Nick multiple times before the snap. Of course, this might just be a mistake or a loophole but Marvel is known for planning ahead.

3. Absence from the MCU

Nick Fury’s notable appearances include The Avengers and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Afterwards, he was briefly seen in Age of Ultron and appeared in the post-credits of Infinity Wars. In between the two appearances, he basically vanished. We have absolutely no idea what he has been up to during this hiatus. He has again disappeared from the MCU as mentioned before and did not partake in the final battle against Thanos in Endgame. Fans are waiting to see him once more during Secret Invasion and finally learn the truth.

4. Lacks family and friends

While Fury has sometimes referenced his family in conversations we have never actually seen them on screen. As a matter of fact, we have barely ever seen Fury have a social life outside of work, neither with friends nor family. This might just be speculation. But the other explanation is that he’s been a Skrull all along and thus does not actually have a family on Earth.

5. A Freudian slip

Another moment from Avengers: Age of Ultron secretly hints that Fury was a Skrull. He was in the middle of giving another one of his motivational speeches to the heroes, preparing them to face Ultron. He peculiarly uses the phrase “back on Earth”. This might just indicate that he is not from planet Earth.

 6. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

After the first attack on Nick Fury, it is a possibility that he asked one of the Skrulls to take his place while he went into hiding. So, the man that went to meet Steve Rogers and then got shot could have been a Skrull. This would also explain how he survived the attack long enough to reach a hospital and get proper treatment.

7. History with the Skrulls

Nick Fury has been acquainted with the Skrulls ever since Captain Marvel. This would mean that he has known them for almost three decades. Over this time, he has built a strong alliance with them that is based on mutual trust and respect. As it turns out they aren’t villainous or deceitful at all and are quite cooperative. This would mean that Fury can contact them whenever he needs their help. This means that Talos and Soren can easily take the place of Nick Fury and Maria Hill and do so entirely at their request.
