Hugh Jackman’s last appearance as Wolverine appearance was rumored to be in Logan, but the actor has confirmed his comeback for Deadpool 3. The globe over, devotees are giddy at the prospect of this huge news. After all, just the idea that Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool would get to romp about in the MCU was thrilling. Adding Hugh Jackman, though, undoubtedly amplified the anticipation among audiences. Hugh Jackman has now revealed the reasoning for his decision to reprise his role as Wolverine in the next film.

While Jackman initially intended to close shop to play Wolverine in Logan, he later changed his mind. And now the Australian actor has confirmed that after wanting to act alongside Ryan Reynold’s Deadpool for a while, he will now make his return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. Will the R-rated movie bring out the most violent side of the mutant?

Deadpool 3 Will Feature Hugh Jackman as the Same Old Wolverine

In conversation with the Associated Press at the red-carpet premiere of  The Son, The actor revealed that he is ecstatic to play the role of Wolverine again. He expresses that “it’s a lot of fun” and further shared that even though “It’s been five years”, he never thought he would be back to play the role. Because of this, he is “really, really excited to come back.”

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years and I really never thought I’d come back. And I’m really, really excited to come back.”

When questioned about his preparation for the part, Jackman responded that he was back in the game, and “eating a lot”, which has been a challenge for his co-stars in the current Broadway production of The Music Man. He further confesses that he doesn’t know much about the screenplay yet.

“I can tell you that I’ve started back at the gym and I’m eating a lot. And I feel bad for the cast of ‘Music Man’ [for] the amount of protein shakes I’m having. But… it’s a lot of fun. You know, when it’s been five years, and I really never thought I’d come back, and I’m really, really excited about it. But actually, I do know a little bit about the script, but I’m not gonna tell you.”

In response to a joke about him portraying “a kinder, gentler Logan,” Jackman insisted that his Wolverine is the same “angrier, acerbic, grumpy” version that audiences have come to know and love. During this time, he promised, he’ll be taking lots of swings at Ryan Reynolds:

“There’s no choice. He’s definitely the angrier, acerbic, grumpy [Wolverine] and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.”

It will be hilarious to see how upset Logan teams up with the hilarious Wade Wilson. The battle between Deadpool and Wolverine has been shown before, but with a speechless Wade Wilson. In the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Logan kills Wade Wilson and then buries his headless corpse under the rumbling cooling tower of a nuclear power station in order to secure victory.

Keeping the R-rating means Wolverine can be almost the same violent hero he was in Logan when he tore people apart and committed some of the most graphic acts of violence ever seen in a superhero film. Either way, fans of either Logan or Wade can anticipate plenty of foul languages and bloody mayhem from their interaction.
