Tom Holland has hinted that he would leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, opening the door for Miles Morales to join the fight, but it would be a big mistake for Marvel Studios to kill off Peter Parker at this point in the series. Holland debuted in Captain America: Civil War as the wall-crawler after Tony Stark scouted him out as a potential Avenger. After a stellar debut, he returned to the character of Peter for Spider-Man: Homecoming and played a significant role in Avengers: Infinity War, where he faced off against the Mad Titan himself. Peter returns for his second solo adventure, launching phase 4 of the MCU in Far From Home. And finally, he made an appearance in No Way Home, sharing the screen with his brothers from different universes.

According to insiders, Marvel is preparing to kill off Peter Parker in his upcoming trilogy so that Miles can succeed him as the 616 Spider-Man. In the upcoming Spider-Man film, Marvel and Sony may introduce Miles alongside Tom Holland as a supporting character. Miles might not get his superpowers until the final Holland film, under contract. If reports are to be believed, Marvel has been working on this since Miles’s Uncle Aaron Davis, also known as The Prowler, was introduced during Homecoming.

It Would Be A Big Mistake

As significant a figure as Peter Parker is in the world of Marvel comics, Tom Holland might be even more crucial to the MCU’s present success. Avengers: Endgame was a clear indication that the studio has started to distance itself from franchise creators like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Scarlett Johansson. Marvel Studios and Disney have generated a lot of money off of those names, so they are undoubtedly taking a big risk—an essential one—by shifting the focus of the franchise to the next generation of superheroes.

Tom Holland is a well-known actor, so killing him off wouldn’t be good for the studio or the audience. Like in the 2018 Spider-Man PS4 game, Miles and Peter can coexist.

In the Ultimate Timeline (Earth-1610), Spider-Man sacrifices himself to save Captain America, who had been shot by The Punisher, who afterwards regretted killing Spidey and turned himself in.

Spider-Man continued in battle after his gunshot wound was declared not lethal, finally coming face to face with the Sinister Six, whom he overcomes after a lengthy struggle in which his injuries took a toll. Just as it looked like he was going to make it through the experience, a neighboring truck explodes, seriously injuring him and ultimately leading to his demise.

Naturally, Miles Morales is motivated to take on the responsibilities of Spider-Man after his death.
