DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn took a stand against a Twitter account known for leaking DC Universe (DCU) information, setting the record straight on their misleading posts. Gunn, recognized for his dedication to debunking false reports and rumors about his movies, is known for ensuring fans are aware of the truth behind the scenes of his work.

Gunn’s vigilance in addressing misinformation was previously evident during his tenure with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Now, as the creative head of DC Studios, he faces even more challenges in safeguarding the accurate representation of his expanding roster of characters across movies and TV shows.

James Gunn’s Superman Legacy To Feature Guardians Of The Galaxy Stars

James Gunn, along with his association with Harley Quinn, responded to a specific Twitter account that specializes in DC leaks. He criticized the account for its recent posts, which hinted at new information about the DCU.

Gunn boldly expressed his disapproval of the account by stating, “Everything that handle posts is untrue.” He also highlighted that the account’s decision to disable replies is a clear indicator of its lack of credibility. Gunn further expressed his fondness for Tom, who played his older brother in the film ‘The Specials’ back in 1999.

One of the misleading posts claimed that Margot Robbie, the actress behind Harley Quinn, was done portraying the character. The account even suggested that Gunn had deleted a tweet about potentially collaborating with Robbie again, following rumors of her involvement in Fantastic Four. Gunn questioned why the account persistently posted lies, emphasizing the potential harm caused by such misinformation, particularly to those he cares about.

In response, the account acknowledged Gunn’s criticism and vowed to “do better.” They sought clarification on whether any of their lies were acceptable. Gunn firmly expressed his stance that no lie is acceptable, although he differentiated between “stupid lies” and lies that could be potentially harmful.

The conversation shed light on the tendency of certain online accounts to engage in “scooper culture,” a phenomenon that often leads to harmful speculation and the premature release of information about upcoming movies and shows. Despite the challenges it presents, Gunn remains committed to preventing leaks and correcting false narratives, both in his work with Marvel and DC.

Considering the popularity of superhero movies in today’s film industry, it is unlikely that accounts like the one in question will disappear anytime soon. With Gunn now overseeing an entire cinematic universe, his dedication to combating leaks remains unwavering as he lays the foundation for his breakthrough in the DC Universe.

James Gunn’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters slate is scheduled to commence in 2024 with Creature Commandos on Max, while the film side will kick off with Superman: Legacy, set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
