Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving along well. Each project is developing the Marvel universe further and further on. Right now, the studio has done a great job of cementing the foundation of the multiversal stories it wants to tell.

Overall, the first part of 2021 has brought a lot of great MCU projects. We also have a lot of teases regarding characters like Jane Foster who will go through some major changes in the upcoming Marvel movies.

Based on what we know till now, it seems like she’s not the sole character who will be going through the changes. Here are the other Marvel characters who will become more interesting in the later projects.

Jane Foster, Kang and Valkyrie

Jane Foster

When Thor: Love and Thunder was initially announced, it was revealed that Natalie Portman will return as Jane Foster as well as undergo a huge transformation.

This means that she will be gaining the powers of Thor at some point. So this then further means that we will get a Jane Foster, the likes of which we haven’t seen ever before in live-action.

Now, there’s a lot of Jane Foster as Thor content in the comics and this has made fans speculate about the exact reason behind her transformation in the MCU. But no matter the reason, Jane Foster coming back in a new avatar has reinvigorated the Thor franchise.

Shuri

Will Shuri become the next Black Panther?

Shuri and T’Challa’s dynamic was one of the most entertaining things to watch in Black Panther. However, we haven’t been able to see her on other adventures. Also, she got blipped in Avengers: Infinity War.

After Endgame, it was revealed that Shuri was trying to develop a synthetic Heart-Shaped Herb which gave T’Challa as well as the others their powers. Thankfully, we will surely be seeing more of her in Black Panther 2 as well as the Disney+ Wakanda show that’s reportedly also in development.

Many fans think that she is going to be the new Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman’s death. Will this happen? Only Marvel knows the answer and so we will have to wait.

Mantis

Mantis hasn’t really contributed much across her initial multiple MCU appearances. She has been pretty much a comedic presence throughout her time. However, she was able to stop Thanos for some time during Avengers: Infinity War.

But viewers haven’t really spent much time with her and as a result, they don’t know much about her. However, in the comics, Mantis is a greater presence.

She was even the bride of Kang The Conqueror at one point. Now, this will certainly be a thing to look forward to seeing the villain is all set to be a formidable presence in the MCU.

But even if this crazy story doesn’t get adapted, there are surely more notable stories in the MCU that will better solidify her role as an invaluable member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Kang The Conqueror

We didn’t quite get to see the ‘real’ Kang The Conqueror in the Disney+series Loki, but we did see a version of him. And it’s pretty clear right now that we will be seeing more of him in future MCU projects.

If the cinematic universe ends up following the Marvel canon, then there should be some amazing variants of Kang showing up at different points and times. That will surely be interesting and will impact the franchise in multiple ways.

Or course, they aren’t all named Kang The Conqueror, but none of it would be possible without him. Also, it will be exciting to see how he measures up to Thanos as a villain.

Monica Rambeau

Monica Rambeau is one of the MCU characters who fans can’t wait to see more of. Fans who watched WandaVision know that there is a very crucial character development that occurs in regards to Monica and Captain Marvel.

But more importantly, there’s a scene that really hints at what she is going to become next. Monica gets exposed to Wanda’s fake reality and in the process unlocks the superpowers that Marvel comics readers always knew that she possessed.

Right now, it’s only a matter of time till she becomes Pulsar/Spectrum/Photon or simply whatever the MCU finally decides to call her. Last we heard from her, she was offered by a Skrull to join a friend of her mother’s in space who is watching over an unknown galactic threat.

This character could be Nick Fury, but that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Also, we aren’t sure what that threat is right now. But one can expect Monica to play a major role in that event.

Apart from this, it’s also confirmed that she will be one of The Marvels’ central characters along with Kamala Khan (Miss Marvel) and Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.

Valkyrie

Thor: Ragnarok showed that she could handle things on her own. We saw a glimpse of Valkyrie’s power and action in Avengers: Endgame as well. Also, we got to know that Valkyrie was the one managing New Asgard full of the refugee Asgardians.

Thor on the other hand was playing Fortnite. Even just this difference shows that Valkyrie deserves to keep her place in the MCU and grow even further in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Right now, we don’t know what she will be doing in the next film apart from looking for a queen to rule beside her, but everyone is excited to know more about her.

Overall, one can hope that Valkyrie continues to be a meaningful party of the Thor franchise. Also, we hope that sharing the screen with Jane Foster leads to further character development and interesting exchanges.

Baron Karl Mordo

Karl Mordo is definitely the only MCU character who everyone knew was going to get developed further on after Doctor Strange. This is the guy who put into action a plan immediately after the major events of the film to de-power other sorcerers.

But he has stayed under the radar since then. However, it’s almost a guarantee that he will show up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness since he is a major rival of Doctor Strange in the comics. One can definitely expect him to complicate the sorcerer’s life.

Sam Wilson

Sam Wilson received the Captain America shield from Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame. But he relinquished it to the US government. Now, a whole show later that could have been averted if Sam had just kept the shield, but he’s officially Captain America finally.

Also, he will be surely returning for big adventures that will definitely carry on the legacy of the Chris Evans’ movies. It will be exciting to see what makes Wilson’s Captain American different and how he navigates his life without the Super Soldier Serum.

Cassie Lang

Cassie Lang is Scott Lang aka The Ant-Man’s young daughter who grew up during Avengers: Endgame. There’s a lot we don’t know about her and this just makes her a very exciting character. In Marvel comics, Cassandra Lang becomes a member of the Young Avengers.

Also, we need to mention that she’s not the only Young Avengers member in the MCU. Many others are also getting introduced. Right now, it does seem like the Young Avengers will be formed sometime in the future. And we think that Cassie will surely be a part of it.

But we don’t know exactly when or how that’s going to happen. As with everything Marvel, it’s a game of wait and watch. But till then, we do expect her to interact with Kate Bishop.

These characters are all set to be major game-changers in the future. But which character are you excited to see the most?
