MCU’s Phase 4 is over and its next phase will be ushered in by Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Fans are eagerly waiting for the movie and they are especially restless to see Kang in it. But there’s one question that everyone is asking- is the Kang in Ant-Man 3 the same one we saw in Loki? Director Peyton Reed has now answered the burning question.

Who Is The Kang In Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania?

Kang’s first appearance in Loki season 1 threw open new multiversal doors for the MCU. But at the end of the season, we saw Sylvie kill that version of Kang. Now, since Kang the Conqueror is appearing in Ant-Man 3 it naturally begs the question if the two Kangs are one and the same.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, Ant-Man 3 director, Peyton Reed has refuted that theory. He said that:

“Kang in our movie is a very different character [from the one we saw in ‘LOKI’]”

It makes sense that the Kang we are going to meet in the upcoming Phase 5 movie is a different variant. After all, one of the intriguing things about Kang are his various variants scattered across the multiverse. So the one Scott and co., will meet is a different one. As such, the better question to ask is- what is Kang doing in the quantum realm?

Empire Magazine has answered that question, revealing that Kang has actually been stuck there. But who left him there? And more importantly, as per the D23 footage, what was stolen from him? Those are questions that will only be answered in the movie. But we can theorize.

What Was Stolen From The Conqueror?

In the D23 footage shown for Ant-Man 3, we saw Jonathan Majors’ antagonist blackmail Scott Lang to aid him in his mission to get something back. While our titular hero declines at first, but it’s clear that he will be fulfilling Kang’s wishes in one way or another.

But what does he want back? It’s possibly something that will help him get out of the quantum realm. Maybe a time travel device like his time chair? But who could have stolen it from him? There are two major candidates- MODOK and Krylar (Bill Murray’s intriguing character) who might have done it.

We are leaning more towards the former character because his funko pop for the movie has been released. Thus, signifying his presence in the film. But how he steals from Kang hasn’t been leaked. We will have to wait for 2023 to see that.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
