Ten years after the release of the renowned, legendary game, HBO has released The Last of Us, and it is great.
The Last of Us by Craig Mazin breaks the gaming curse by bringing Naughty Dog’s survival horror game to life on HBO’s streaming platform. Even though a 2014 film proposal was approved, it has since been turned into an HBO series.
Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) are the stars of the show. They are an odd couple forced to travel cross-country through America while battling a terrible monster fungal outbreak.

The Last of Us shows Neil Druckmann’s aim to make this universe bigger than it was in his first game. It provides interesting material that serves as an explanation of how the fungus functions for beginners and an exciting new context for those who are familiar with it, even if it is not necessary to Joel and Ellie’s adventure. Episode 2 dropped last night, and fans are really happy.

The popular video game “The Last of Us” has been adapted for television, but it may be too soon to determine whether Joel, the game’s beloved main character, has been treated fairly. A plot that won’t lose sight of its main objective—providing the fans of the game and of TV with a rich protagonist to rejoice in—is promised by the pilot’s sincere effort to define all the questions about everything that makes Joel who he is. And let’s be honest: no one else can portray Joel with the remarkable level of realism that Pedro Pascal can.

Today, we’ll explain to you guys Joel Miller’s complete journey in the games, his character arc, and what to expect from him going forward in the series.

Who Is Joel Miller ?

Joel Miller is the lead character in The Last of Us and a supporting role player in The Last of Us: Left Behind and The Last of Us Part II.

In a post-apocalyptic society that had been decimated by the Cordyceps brain epidemic, Joel was one of the survivors. After losing his only daughter Sarah in the early days of the pandemic, Joel turned into a cruel and bitter smuggler. He was finally assigned the task of transporting and safeguarding Ellie Williams, a young girl who was crucial to humanity’s survival. Joel eventually developed a close relationship with her.

Early Life

Joel was raised in Texas with his younger brother, Tommy.

Joel first became passionate about music as a child, learning to play the acoustic guitar and even expressing aspirations of becoming a musician. In his brief marriage to Sarah’s mother, Joel had a daughter named Sarah. He was prevented from going to college because he was forced to take up the duties of fatherhood at a young age.

Whatever happened with his ex-wife, Joel finds it difficult to talk about. Sarah’s mother abruptly left him. He spent the vast majority of his life raising his only daughter alone as a result.

Sarah’s Death

Joel had to use his handgun to defend himself after being attacked by his neighbor. Tommy arrived to take them away in his truck after Sarah had been calmed.

The party tried to figure out what was going on as they drove toward the highway, but when they arrived, they discovered that the road was blocked. They decided to take an alternate route, but this caused their car to crash with an approaching vehicle. Joel knocked out the windscreen after he awoke so the three could flee on foot. Sarah’s leg was hurt in the accident, so he had to carry her. Tommy stayed behind after running across the city to fight off the zombies so Joel and Sarah could escape.

When they arrived at the highway, a soldier was there. The soldier’s senior commander gave him the order to kill the two over the radio, so he started firing. The soldier fell to the ground and attempted to kill Joel, but Tommy shot him as he came. Sarah, though, took a devastating blow. She passed away in Joel’s arms despite his efforts.

Joel never fully gets over the trauma of holding his daughter as she passed away. The last bit of tenderness in his heart that was left perished with her. We observe a man who has become stone-like when we see him toss the unconscious boy into the QZ fire pit. When Sarah died, both time and his life came to an end. He still wears the watch that most likely shattered in the commotion of the open fire that killed her as a regular, unsettling reminder of the catastrophe. He has, undoubtedly, discovered some comfort in his friendship with Tess. Tess, however, finds it simple to express the kind of compassion that doesn’t require an explanation because of how serious he is.

Surprising Joel, Marlene discloses that the “cargo” is the girl, Ellie. Joel grudgingly agreed to accompany the young woman to an apartment next to an exterior wall, where they would wait for Tess to return from checking the weapons with Marlene.

Joel escorted the girl and questioned her about her parents’ whereabouts and the Fireflies’ intense fascination with her. Ellie admitted that her parents passed away “a long time ago,” but she remained mum on Marlene’s motivation for having Joel smuggle her in. The nicest part of his job, according to Joel, is that “I don’t have to know.”

Joel sat down on a couch in the apartment and told Ellie to “think out… what to do” as he dozed off. Joel did not respond when Ellie commented that his watch was broken.

Marlene also informed Joel that the surgeons were preparing to extract the fungus from Ellie’s brain, which would result in her death, in order to completely reverse engineer the fungus for a vaccine. Joel started to speak out for her as soon as he heard this. Before abandoning him with the Firefly guard Ethan, Marlene ignored him, claiming that it was not his decision and that her plan to sacrifice Ellie would save humanity. Joel tormented Ethan to find out where the surgery room was because he was desperate not to lose his new “daughter” the same way he lost Sarah. After fighting his way into the hospital, he killed the facility’s chief surgeon and led Ellie outside.

Joel and Tommy were out on patrol. The two took cover in a group of buildings, where they discovered and rescued Abby Anderson from a swarm of infected. Joel and Tommy were brought back to Abby’s group’s refuge. After Tommy and Joel introduced themselves, They seemed to recognize the brothers; Joel thought suspiciously, and Abby verified it before shooting Joel in the leg with a shotgun.

They knocked Tommy out, then dragged Joel up against a wall. Joel hissed for Abby to finish him off.

Abby pulled out a golf club and started hitting Joel with it.

Ellie attempted to intervene when she saw Abby assaulting Joel, but Abby’s squad immediately held her. Joel was unable to move and could only simulate opening his eyes to look at Ellie as she pleaded with him to stand up. After ignoring Ellie’s cries, Abby struck Joel in the head with the golf club, murdering him.
