Isn’t it so satisfying to see fan speculation eventually turn into reality? A new leak surrounding Marvel’s next theatrical release, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has surfaced on social media. Albeit unofficial, the report suggests that actor John Krasinski is making his MCU debut with the sequel as Reed Richards, popularly known as Mr. Fantastic. Which is a role that fans have long anticipated to see him cast for.

Marvel Cinematic Universe is advancing in its Phase 4. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s hero trying to control the Multiversal collapse that his erratic spell caused in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film will focus heavily on the Multiverse and its many mysteries. So it is likely that the film will feature various actors playing different parallel universe versions of some popular Marvel characters.

The Illuminerdi recently revealed a new detail that points towards a possible cameo of Reed Richards, otherwise known as Mr. Fantastic. The Office and Jack Ryan star John Krasinski is supposedly playing the part. In the past few years, John has been in light of fan castings for the role of Mr. Fantastic. Especially after Marvel Comics introduced a bearded version of the character. Moreover, fans have started petitions and created fan art of John sporting the look of Mr. Fantastic. However, Marvel has not disclosed any official information regarding the same.

In the year 2021, there was news that stated John being cast to play Mr. Fantastic in the film. In addition, his wife Emily Blunt had been approached for the role of the character’s wife, Sue Storm, also known as Invisible Woman. But Emily Blunt immediately refused to make any comments on the news. In May 2021, Emily appeared on The Howard Stern Show. And when she was asked about the rumors, she said, “That is fan-casting. No one has received a phone call. That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?’”

However, Marvel fans are now immune to their favorite stars blatantly denying such rumors. Even Andrew Garfield repeatedly contradicted the fact that he was going to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And now, as word has it, Garfield has helped three generations of Spider-Man fans’ dreams come true.

With that said, John’s eagerness to be a part of Doctor Strange 2 has encouraged fans to believe this news with more certainty. In an interview with ComicBook.com last year, the actor said, “I think to be a part of the Marvel world would be amazing anyway, and the fact that people would even consider me for that level of a part would be amazing”.

In the original Marvel Comics, Reed Richards is the leader of the Fantastic Four. The Fantastic Four consists of Mr. Fantastic, his wife Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman, brother-in-law Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, and Ben Grimm aka The Thing. Previously, the character has made two separate on screen appearances for the Fantastic Four franchises. One was played by Ioan Gruffudd in the 2005 film Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel. Whereas, the 2015 reboot of the film featured Miles Teller as the main character.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2022. The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. It will also bring back the characters of Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Wong, and feature Xochitl Gomez.

The latest report by Deadline revealed that the film is done with all the reshoots. Certain reports state that these re-shoots were done because Marvel wanted to add more fresh cameos to the film. According to these reports, Marvel Studios is taking notes from fan reactions after seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home. And apparently, the production wants to try the same strategy to deliver another spectacle with Multiverse of Madness.
