There was one scene in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that made audiences hoot and cheer. This was the appearance of John Krasinski as Reed Richards/ Mr. Fantastic. Even though he was quickly turned into spaghetti by Wanda, his cameo was a memorable one. And fans have been clamoring for him to return to the MCU ever since. However, John Krasinski says that it might not be possible anymore.

During an interview with The Wrap, John Krasinski answered questions about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He said that there have been no further discussions with Marvel regarding anything. The actor said:

“There aren’t any discussions at all, the only discussion I had was actually in the second-to-last week of ‘Jack Ryan’. Kevin Feige called and said would you ever fly to L.A. and play in our sandbox for a day? I was honored to do it. I flew right from Budapest when we wrapped and went right to the ‘Doctor Strange’ set. I’m a big fan of all those characters and that world, so to get to play in that sandbox for one day was a real thrill.”

This isn’t new news really because Krasinski’s wife, Emily Blunt, had previously stated that she too doesn’t know if her husband will reprise his role in the MCU. As for his experience shooting the Doctor Strange 2 cameo he said:

“It’s totally insane. To be in a room with all those people, and again to be a part of that narrative is crazy. But yeah, being turned into spaghetti wasn’t my end goal in life as far as how it goes in the Marvel universe, but you know what it was fun nonetheless.”

Will The Actor Really Not Return As Reed Richards?

It’s possible that he will get a call from Kevin Feige in the future, but as of now it looks like he is done with the MCU. And it all makes sense too because in the DVD commentary for Spider-Man: No Way Home, director Jon Watts said that Kevin Feige allowed the Krasinski as Reed cameo in Doctor Strange 2 as a gift for fans. Fans will remember that Jon Watts was set to direct MCU’s Fantastic Four movie before WandaVision director, Matt Shakman, took over.

So it sounds like John’s appearance was always a one-and-done deal. Also, currently there are rumors swirling about actors like Diego Luna (Andor), Jean Rege-Page (Bridgerton), and more being looked at for the role of Reed Richards. It remains to be seen who gets selected.

Stay tuned for more updates.
