The highly anticipated second season of Jujutsu Kaisen anime is set to focus on the backstory of important characters such as Satoru Gojo, one of the most popular high school teachers in the series. In a new promotional video and images posted on the official Jujutsu Kaisen anime Twitter account, it is revealed that the upcoming season will start by exploring the past lives of older sorcerers, including Gojo and other prominent characters.

Gojo’s Past Story Arc

Satoru Gojo

The upcoming season of Jujutsu Kaisen anime is expected to adapt “Gojo’s Past” story arc from the manga, which covers Gojo’s second year at Tokyo’s Jujutsu High School. The story arc introduces Gojo’s one true friend Suguru Geto, who plays a pivotal role in almost everything that is going on in the current Jujutsu Kaisen timeline.

In the “Gojo’s Past” story arc, arrogant and brash Gojo is paired with the intensely cerebral Geto, and the two become one of the school’s go-to teams for the more important missions. However, their relationship is put to the test when they are asked to meet with Rika and escort her to the school. What seemed like a standard mission quickly goes awry as the two come into contact with forces much more powerful than they had confronted before, leading to critical changes in their mindsets that would have long-term consequences for the jujutsu sorcerer community.

New Promotional Artwork

In addition to the new promotional video, the Jujutsu Kaisen anime account also revealed a few pieces of promotional artwork. One of the artworks features Gojo, Geto, and another key character in the storyline, Star Plasma Vessel Rika Amanai. Another piece depicts Geto and Gojo in their school uniforms.

Overall, the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen anime promises to provide important background information on why the older generation of sorcerers act as they do and gives context to upcoming events such as the gaming-changing Shibuya Incident.
