With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicking off the MCU’s Phase 5 this weekend, Marvel fans are growing impatient with the lack of Spider-Man news. Everyone in the MCU had forgotten about Tom Holland’s Peter Parker when we last saw him. No Way Home completely wiped the slate clean, and neither Marvel nor Sony had anything to say about the character’s destiny. But, as the Multiverse Saga progresses, Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige appears to be ready to talk about Spider-Man 4.

The ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home allowed Peter Parker to start over, leading to the events of Spider-Man 4. Feige teased that the titular webslinger “[is] moving into the street-level heroes,” while the specifics of the plot are still being kept under wraps.

Spider-Man 4 is reportedly targeting a July 2024 release date, according to a previous rumor, while Sony Pictures CEO Tim Rothman indicated he was still unsure of the film’s potential release date.

This week, in a thorough interview with Entertainment Weekly, Feige covered a wide range of topics, including the Phase 5 films and Disney Plus series, Kang, and Jonathan Majors’ role as the lead character. Feige also shared his views on James Gunn’s upcoming takeover of the DC Universe. Interestingly, the CEO did offer some news when EW sought to extract details about the upcoming Spider-Man film from him.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that the story for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4 has been finalized. The fact that Feige stated that the film’s writers are “just putting pen to paper now” suggested that a script might be presented soon during this major update.

“All I will say is that we have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”

There was never any doubt that Sony and Marvel Studios would put out a new Spider-Man film as soon as a good script was available. In total, the three MCU Spider-Man films have brought in close to $4 billion worldwide. The seventh-highest-grossing movie of all time, Spider-Man: No Way Home, alone, brought in almost $1.9 billion.

Spider-Man: No Way Home producer Amy Pascal previously assured Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige that additional Spider-Man feature films were in the works.

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie.”

Amy, while promoting “No Way Home,” revealed to Fandango that:

“We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”

Regardless of whether Tom Holland shows up in one, three, or twelve more MCU films, it seems that Marvel Studios and Sony have decided on a storyline for Spider-Man 4.

Tom knew very little about Spider-Man 4 and the upcoming movies in February 2022. At the time, Tom stated to Entertainment Weekly that they had “discussions” on Spider-Man’s future, but that they were still only discussions.

“We don’t know what the future looks like.”

Prior to the release of No Way Home, the actor was debating his future as a superhero. He told GQ, “Maybe it’s time for me to move on.” Maybe making a Miles Morales movie would be ideal for Spider-Man. Peter Parker must also be considered because he plays a significant role in my life. “I’ve done something wrong,” he continued, “if I’m playing Spider-Man after I turn 30.”

Tom later apologised for his remarks and claimed they were “misconstrued.”

Amy later clarified that Tom is unquestionably a member of Spider-Man’s future:

“As long as he wants to make Spider-Man movies, we will make Spider-Man movies. But I’m a producer, and I always think everything is going to work out. If I have my way, we will.”

It is very evident from all of these claims that Tom Holland will undoubtedly return for Spider-Man 4.
