Kit Harrington’s situation is similar to Bryan Cranston from ‘Breaking Bad’ (the highest-rated TV Series on IMDb at 9.5/10, with Game of Thrones at 9.2/10 and House of the Dragon at 8.6/10 currently, for perspective). While Cranston departed from the all-time television classic and AMC announced ‘Better Call Saul’ a prequel series to ‘Breaking Bad.’ Similarly, House of the Dragon, the prequel series to Game of Thrones, another television classic, Kit Harrington, the star of the latter, felt uneasy when HBO launched House of the Dragon.

Kit Harrington thought during the initial release of House of the Dragon, that watching House of the Dragon would be ‘painful,’ while his Game of Thrones co-star, Nikolar Coster-Waldau begged to differ. Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, said that he “can’t wait” to watch House of the Dragon.

Different people, different opinions. But what is the truth of the matter? Let’s find out.

Kit Harington stated to the Associated Press the previous summer how he favours the impending Game of Thrones spinoff. Yet he also said that seeing House of the Dragon when it arrives this year “might be painful.” Insider, a media house Harrington spoke to, subsequently learned that the Game of Thrones actor stated the remark since he explicitly said, “there’s emotion connected to that for me.” Here’s what Kit Harrington said in full:

“I think to see people get into outfits and costumes, that resemble what we wore for all those years, and it [has] the same music and style and tone, but not be in it is always going to feel — There’s going to be a rawness there.”

Does Kit Harrington Miss Being A Part Of The Game of Thrones Universe?

In a recent talk with ET Canada, Kit Harrington did mention that he is watching House of the Dragon. So let’s not assume that he is against House of the dragon.

According to Insider, Kit Harrington although he would love to see the Game of Thrones culture, outfits and themes, he feels that there would be “rawness” in House of the Dragon. One could interpret that Kit Harrington may be feeling somewhat empty, now that he is not a part of his dearly beloved Game of Thrones Universe. There is no doubt that he is emotional about the series, but what he says next makes us believe that Kit Harrington misses being a part of the Game of Thrones franchise.

“I think to see people get into outfits and costumes, that resemble what we wore for all those years [on Game of Thrones], and it [has] the same music and style and tone, but not be in it is always going to feel — there’s going to be a rawness there.”

What Did Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Say?

Coster-Waldau had a somewhat unique outlook on House of the Dragon. He previously informed Good Morning America producers that serving as a spinoff to a successful series like Game of Thrones is a “two-edged sword.” This is how Coster-Waldau differed in his opinion from his former co-star, Kit Harrington.

“But I thought it looked incredible. “Matt Smith just rocks that white wig so well. I was just waiting for Emilia Clarke to show up, it’s the world of the Targaryens. I can’t wait to watch that show, for sure.”

He believes the link to Game of Thrones would draw a great deal of attention to House of the Dragon, which is a “good thing.” However, he claims that the key is that no one is familiar with these new characters that the series has introduced. What Nikolaj is saying is unlike ‘Better Call Saul,’ which was based on a popular character from ‘Breaking Bad,’ making the audience connect with the series more. Coster-Waldau wishes for fans to “stick around” and allow House of the Dragon a shot.
