Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal previously appeared in the “Defenders Saga,” a collection of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that premiered on Netflix from 2015 to 2019. In March 2023, it was announced that Bernthal would be returning to play Frank Castle/Punisher in “Daredevil: Born Again.” Ritter, who portrayed Jessica Jones in the series of the same name, expressed her excitement over Bernthal’s return to the role of Punisher.

On Instagram, Ritter showed her support for Bernthal’s return as Punisher with a simple fire emoji in response to a post related to the character. It’s unknown how Marvel Studios plans to integrate the Punisher into the storyline of “Daredevil: Born Again,” or whether there will be any link between this version of the character and his portrayal in the Netflix series.

Additionally, there is currently no information on the number of episodes in which Bernthal will appear, leaving open the possibility of a brief cameo or a more significant supporting role.

It’s evident that Bernthal will have a role in “Daredevil: Born” Again, unlike his former “Defenders Saga” co-stars Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson. In “Daredevil,” Woll and Hensen played Karen Page and Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, respectively, and they reprised their roles in other shows in the “Defenders Saga.” Woll even appeared in a few episodes of “The Punisher” alongside Bernthal. However, it appears that neither of them will be appearing in “Daredevil: Born Again.”

The canonicity of the “Defenders Saga” is still unclear, although some actors from the “Daredevil” series have appeared in recent MCU projects. For instance, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil showed up in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,’ while Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk/Kingpin served as one of the antagonists in “Hawkeye.”

Ritter is not currently involved in any Marvel Studios projects, but there are rumors circulating online that suggest she may return to her role as Jessica Jones. The nature of her return remains uncertain, but rumors persist that the “Hawkeye” spinoff “Echo” could pave the way for her comeback.

According to one rumor, Daredevil is searching for Jones in Echo, but it’s unclear if she will physically appear in the show if the rumor turns out to be true. Alternatively, her return could be saved for a future MCU film or TV series. Fans desperately want her to return to the role. One said: “KRYSTEN RITTER WHEN IT’S YOUR TURN.” Another commented, “Yesterday was the first day of shooting for Daredevil Born Again. Hoping to see Krysten Ritter return as Jessica Jones.”
