Star Wars fans have been feeding well on new content thanks to Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions. Both are animated shows, but the latter is more of a non-canon anime anthology series.

But fans of the galaxy far far away will get the live-action fix that they have been waiting for with The Book of Boba Fett that premiers this December. Thankfully, this isn’t the only live-action show that fans will be enjoying. In fact, this is just the start.

After The Book of Boba Fett, there will be other entries like Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Rogue One -prequel called Andor. Also, of course, the one thing that everyone has been waiting for – the third season of The Mandalorian.

Filming has begun on the third season of the show and Carl Weathers, who plays Greef Karga in The Mandalorian recently confirmed that on social media.

Now, new photos have been leaked from the sets of The Mandalorian. This will allow fans to know what’s going on with Mando and his friends in the third season of the show.

Jason Ward from MakingStarWars.net and The Making Star Wars Show shared multiple set photos taken from the Los Angeles production set of The Mandalorian’s third season.

These photos showcase the extensive sets of the show and as per Ward, “It’s like a maze of streets that look like that.” One image shows a prop that looks like it belonged in the Original Trilogy.

Now, it’s not possible to know what that prop exactly is, but Ward has said that it’s definitely accessible from the labyrinth of walls. He has theorized that it could be a landing platform or an elevator. Another photo from the leaked photo set looks like that of an exterior finished street that has two doors.

The Mandalorian Uses A Combination Of Volume Tech And Sets

The Volume technology used for The Mandalorian

Season 1 of The Mandalorian was a pop culture phenomenon that revolutionized how shows and films were made. After all, it was the very first show to make use of a technology called The Volume.

This included using huge LED screens that were able to move with every shot, thus, allowing creators to adjust angles, effects, lighting, etc. This technology even allowed in-camera rendering as well.

This revolutionary tech wasn’t limited to The Mandalorian or Star Wars. Marvel Studios is using this for Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. After all, thanks to this innovative tech, there’s less of a need for location shoots at all.

But less doesn’t mean none at all. In season 2, the scene of Mando and Boba Fett teaming up in “The Tragedy” was shot completely on location. Know that the very same thing happened with Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi both being filmed on location with large sets.

These leaked season 3 photos indicate that they are continuing to use sets. However, there’s no way to accurately determine what city these sets are supposed to depict. Are they even from the Star Wars galaxy? Or is it completely new?

But the kind of trees used on the streets of the city does give a hint regarding the location the set is supposed to depict. This is because Mando has visited multiple planets which have varied ecosystems and climates.

But he hasn’t quite visited a city that has trees in it. So this confirms that the location definitely isn’t Nevarro, but instead, it’s someplace new. Also, it should be noted that the color and style palette of the street is quite different from the physical element that we can see in another photo.

In fact, it evokes an Imperial style or even that of Tantive IV or Echo Base. Maybe, the city is under occupation?

Is Din Djarin Going To Mandalore?

When viewers saw Din Djarin in the season 2 finale he was heartbroken that Grogu had to leave with Luke. But he also understood that it was something that was necessary.

However, that wasn’t the only thing that concerned Mando in the finale of the show. Right now, he is the rightful owner of the Darksaber, but he doesn’t really want it.

Now, while Bo-Katan Kryze wants the saber, but she refuses to take it from him without combat. As such, it remains to be seen where this story takes him.

But many fans are theorizing that we will get to see Bo-Katan as a friend turned foe. And the story will most probably take him to Mandalore since that’s where he is from.

However, one has to consider the fact that the Empire had occupied Mandalore, and they were the ones who had carried out the Great Purge. So there’s no way to accurately know just what is the condition of the planet during this point in the Star Wars timeline.

So could this set be of Mandalore? After all, Star Wars fans will surely be interested in seeing the planet that has only been shown in animation till now. However, the Star Wars galaxy is large and so it could very well be a different place.

However, there’s certainly a possibility that fans will get to know and see more of Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett in December. It’s also possible that Disney+ Day, which will be held on November 12, might give more information on this matter.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian is expected to release on Disney+ in late 2022.
