As the year comes to a close, all eyes will be on Star Wars: Visions and The Book of Boba Fett. However, Kenobi may be the most eagerly awaited project the Star Wars fandom has seen in a long time. Six episodes of the Obi-Wan Kenobi prequel series will be released on Disney+ in 2022. Fans will see Obi-Wan keeping an eye on Luke Skywalker on Tatooine while he is away from the Jedi Order. Ewan McGregor, who portrayed Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy, will return to the series. Hayden Christensen will don the mask of Darth Vader. The actor will also star for the very first time following 2005’s Revenge of the Sith.

There have been some leaked concept drawings of Darth Vader and some small facts regarding Jawas and other fan-favorite droids. Besides that, very little is known about the series. Sung Kang from the Fast & Furious movie series has also confirmed his involvement in the show and given some interesting information. These include the fact that there will be many Jedis on screen. This just goes to show that Kang isn’t finished dishing out details about his persona yet.

Sung Kang always wanted a Lightsaber and finally got one!

In an interview with Ash Crossan, the Lead content producer and host at ScreenRant, the Power actor talks about his love for Star Wars. He also goes on to express how ecstatic he is about the upcoming series. To begin with, Kang reminisced on his youth. He added that he used to “dress up” in Star Wars Halloween costumes “almost every single day.” So for him, being on the set of something he grew up adoring means a lot to him.

“You know what it means to me? As a kid, as like an 8-year-old kid, 8 to probably 13, I’m a little embarrassed to admit 13. But my favorite holiday is Halloween. I used to dress up in the cheap, K-Mart, plastic Halloween costumes [as] Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader almost every single day from 8 to 13 years old.”

The ‘Cold Case’ actor¬† further describing how he and his pals “would play pretend” by “making [their] own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers.” He also stated that “to see the Star Wars world in front of [him]” is nothing short of “pretty amazing:”

“My friends and I would play pretend. We would make our own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers and stuff like that, and paper towel cardboard. To be able to be on set, and see Darth Vader, and see the Star Wars universe in front of me, just as a fan, to be able to be part of that history is pretty amazing.”

Kang went on to exclaim that he wields a lightsaber. Undoubtedly, this turned out to be the exciting part of the conversation. While filming, he admitted that he “kept pinching” himself and that his “character has a lightsaber:”

“I kept pinching myself to go ‘how did I end up here,’ and my character has a lightsaber. And to go ‘wow I’m actually, it’s not a toy, it’s actually the real thing,’ so, pretty cool.”

The truth about some speculations

To begin, it’s incredible to hear Kang talk about his love for Star Wars. When an actor is as passionate about their project, the audience should expect nothing less than a genuine and superior efficiency.

The fact that these performers are so like the people that watch and support them simply goes to demonstrates how similar they are. Every Star Wars fan grew up using paper towel centers as lightsabers. And hearing him reminisce about those days should be enough to persuade anybody that he is the ideal choice for the job.

Although Kang’s role has yet to be unveiled, his words have confirmed that he would be armed with a lightsaber in the movie. Whether he uses a blue, green, or red lightsaber is still up in the air at this point.

Kang is said to be playing the Fifth Brother, an Inquisitor who appeared in Star Wars: Rebels. Fans will have to wait to find out whether these reports are real. Nonetheless, the year 2022 is rapidly approaching, so there won’t be much time to waste.
