The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been diving deeper and deeper into the realm of magic, sorcery and mystical arts. Although characters like Loki and Wanda existed in the universe, it wasn’t until Doctor Strange that the MCU truly explored magic. Ever since they have not looked back. With Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home and the upcoming Agatha: Coven of Chaos it’s clear that the MCU is looking to expand its mystical characters. So here’s a list of 10 mystical villains that the MCU could introduce.

1. Satana

Hell hath no fury than the daughter of Satan, Satana Hellstrom. She possesses magical demonic powers and was first caught performing a black magic ritual alongside her father by her mother. There was a time when Satana decided to forge her own path, different from her father’s by trying to fight various evil forces. One of her most impressive and unique abilities was her ‘kiss of death’. This ability allowed her to feed on the souls of people.

2. Mojo

Mojo, a villain of the X-Men

Belonging to Mojoworld, Mojo belonged to a race of spineless beings. He was a persistent villain of the X-Men. He often had altercations with the X-Force. His signature power was generating an anti-life field that could basically alter weather patterns. He used this power to kill natural organisms.

A genetic clone of none other than Jean Grey, Madelyne Pryor is a powerful mutant possessing the power of the Phoenix force. She was created by the infamous Mr. Sinister. Mr. Sinister wanted to create a mutant who would have the powers of both Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Thus, he formed Madelyne Pryor hoping that she would have a child with Scott. In fact, it was the death of Dark Phoenix that let off a stray spark of the Phoenix Force which entered the body of Madelyne Pryor and changed her life forever.

The daughter of Avalon’s sea princess, Morgan Le Fay was trained to harness her magical power quite early on in her life. She even summoned Chthon along with her cult of Darkholders. She was an extremely skilled and gifted spellcaster to the point that the Eye of Agamotto appeared to her and chose her as a replacement of Doctor Strange for the title of the Sorcerer Supreme.

5. Spiral

Rita Wayword or Spiral was a villain created by Mojo. She was a six-armed sorceress who was forced into a life of servitude my her master Mojo. She was a frequent enemy of the X-Men. In fact, she once defeated both Iron Man and Captain Marvel in a battle using her magical powers.

6. Nightmare

Lord of Darkness or Nightmare rules the nightmare world which is his own realm within the Dream Dimension. He feeds off dreams of living beings when they are asleep and can even trap individuals in his dimension. Mirror of melancholy is a special artefact he possesses that shows the greatest fear of a person.

7. Amora, The Enchantress

The Enchantress, Amora is a powerful mystical sorceress in the Marvel universe. She is as heartless as she is beautiful. Amora was an Asgardian goddess who learned casting spells at a very young age.

A common nemesis of Doctor Strange, Wolverine, the Punisher and Elektra, Kulan Gath was one of the most powerful magic users. He had once been the Sorcerer Supreme. He could cast spells, create illusions, manipulate time, possess bodies and enslave people’s minds. Kulan Gath had once even mind controlled the Avengers and the X-Men.

The son of Agatha Harkness, Nicholas Scratch was a leader of New Salem. He possessed the Satan Staff which allowed him to concentrate and focus his magical powers. In fact, he had once even entered into an alliance with Mephisto.
