Lucasfilm Puts Gina Carano’s Name In Emmy Awards Campaign For The Mandalorian

A couple of months ago the entire internet was shocked when Disney and Lucasfilm declared that they had fired Gina Carano from The Mandalorian. It was due to the fact that the ex-MMA star had shared plenty of inflammatory posts on her social media platforms. Now, we know that Disney did try to intervene and wanted her to issue an apology, but Carano refused to do even that.

However, Carano’s fans believe that she was unjustly fired. Most pointed out that Pedro Pascal was still employed by the company even though he had shared far left-leaning posts in the past. As such, they continue to fight to get Carano rehired. There are multiple petitions going around the internet asking Disney to rehire their fave star. In fact, there’s a petition there that has reached upwards of 85k signatures!

Now, it seems really unlikely that Disney will be rehiring her again. However, this doesn’t mean that they are done with the actress.

Disney Submits Carano’s Name For The Emmy Awards

Right now, a huge company like Disney isn’t going to take any fan campaigns into consideration when it comes to casting or rehiring someone. Also, we need to mention that the actress has destroyed her chances of working with Lucasfilm or Disney by constantly targeting them after she was fired.

In fact, she even accused Disney Of bullying her. However, it looks like Carano hasn’t exited Star Wars right now fully since her name has been submitted for the Emmy Awards for The Mandalorian.

Yes, you heard that right, In a turn of events that surprised us, Lucasfilm has indeed decided to put Gina Carano’s name for the Best Supporting Actress category. Along with her, star Pedro Pascal has also been nominated for the position of Best Lead Actor.

Joining them are Temuera Morrison and Giancarlo Esposito in the Best Supporting Actor category. Disney has also submitted a lot of names for the Best Guest Actor category like that of Mark Hamill, Timothy Olyphant, as well as Rosario Dawson.

Does It Mean That Disney And Lucasfilm Can Hire Her?

Now, whether she will win or lose, that’s yet to be seen. However, it’s certainly interesting that the company that fired her is throwing their support behind her like this. We know what you are asking- does it mean that Disney will rehire her? Honestly, as we mentioned before, that doesn’t seem possible right now. In fact, at most this nomination could mean that Lucasfilm is trying to make the hurt of the firing sting less for Carano.

For now, we would tell her fans to take this Emmy campaign as a win. As for what will happen to the character of Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, that remains to be seen. But hopefully, season 3 will give some necessary explanations and clarifications. And for Gina- we certainly hope to see her in the Star Wars universe, but right now only time will tell what will happen next.
