The Skywalker Trilogy has been over for quite some time now. For a long time, we were informed that it was the end of the Skywalker saga. Also, it felt like Disney wasn’t interested in telling more stories after the Resistance fought off the First Order.

But that might all be changing now, as apparently there’s a new Jedi Order project in development, and it’s set after the Sequel Trilogy.

After Disney bought Lucasfilm, they immediately went to work on a new Star Wars trilogy. Fans were obviously excited because they were getting brand new live-action content after years.

Now, Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) was really well-received. But problems began with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It did great box-office business, but critics, as well as fans, were divided on it.

Then came The Rise of Skywalker. Even before the movie began production, it was already plagued with problems. For one, Colin Trevorrow, the original director, left the film.

After that, Lucasfilm was fighting to find a replacement while also trying to find a way to work around Carrie Fisher’s untimely death. Not to mention the fact that Daisy Ridley (Rey) has herself confirmed that the movie was going through rewrites even on the sets.

Overall, the movie failed to give fans a satisfying and proper conclusion to the Skywalker Saga. As a result, many thought that Disney wasn’t going to tell stories after the Sequel Trilogy.

But that might not be the case anymore.

Reports Of New Jedi Order Project

Joanna Robinson, a former Vanity Fair reporter, revealed on the Ringer-Verse podcast that she heard whispers of Lucasfilm actively trying to develop a new trilogy that tackles a revamped Jedi Order.

But before you get excited, know that Robinson also said that:

“You can fill an entire stadium with ideas Lucasfilm has been interested in but never realized.”

Right now, from what we can see, Lucasfilm wants to tell stories that are set in the past. After The Mandalorian’s success, they green-lit other Disney+ Star Wars shows that would take place either immediately after or before the Original Trilogy.

Before this report, there hasn’t been any indication of the studio contemplating any projects set post-sequel trilogy. So we would advise you to take this information with a grain of salt for now.

Also, with the divisive nature of the Sequel Trilogy, it makes sense to give it some time and space before going back to it again. However, let us give in to our inner fan and assume that it’s true.

This means that Rey will definitely come back to the forefront again. At the end of The Rise of Skywalker, there’s definitely a hint that she will rebuild the Jedi Order. After all, she knows that Luke failed to build that academy.

So the fact that she has learned from the mistakes of the past to build a new order is an interesting concept that we can see Lucasfilm trying to build on. Now, whether that will happen or not, is another matter entirely.

For now, it’s a wait-and-watch thing, as with many of Lucasfilm’s projects.
